Broward College Acceptance

Published

hey to all,

right now i am at a lost for words because i just checked my email with broward college and i was accepted, so i know that others must have received a confirmation. just to confirm it i called and spoke with twanna burnee and she confirmed it. so, good luck to all others who have applied. to be completely honest, i really didn't expect to get accepted since it was a very last minute thing. cheers to me and others for the summer program!!!!!!!! i am in, i am really in.........:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

also, leavingteaching, would you recommend the book fundamentals of nursing made incredibly easy- mostly as something to read before i'm in the program, not necessarily for while i am in the program?

did you ever use any of the made incredibly easy books while in the program for anything? i thought i saw the fluids and electrolytes one on the list, don't remember if there were more, or if they're even used.

my sis spilt with another student and bought a care plan book for process 2- i forgot the name but she said that it was very useful. she highly reccommends the jarvis book espeically for health assessment.

also, is there anywhere you can take the uniforms to have the bc nursing logo put on, like if i bought plain blue scrubs (the correct color blue, of course)? i'm thinking probably not, but you may know of some secret place i can go, lol. :p

i bought this book today at borders as i had a 40% off coupon, it was $39.95 and i got it for around $23. i called my sis who is in the program and she told me not to get it as potter and perry had all of that stuff and i already have the 6th edition of fundamentals by potter and perry that i got from half.com for $10.

i bought it anyway as i had the big coupon. it is an easy read so i think that i will keep it as i have time to read and it is clear.

i also got the 2009 mosby's drug cards with the cd. itr was around $39 for my oher sis who is about to start pharmacy at central in may. i got mediquik drug cards for around $38 for me but i had the 40% of coupon so i got both boxes of cards for under $50 instead of $85. i prefer the mediquick cards as they have punched holes and more info. however, the mosby's has the cd rom that you can use to print out more info. my sis says that they will be very helpful as you don't have to take the time to write out med cards. you can just pull out the appropriate card and hook on a ring and take to clinicals or/and study for pharm.

you mean you bought the fundamentals of nursing made incredibly easy? that's why i wanted to get it- because it seems, like you said, an easy read. i figured if it was an easy read, it couldn't hurt to read that and get some basic information into my brain and then later when i am reading the perry potter book, i will be refreshing my brain on things i picked up on in the made incredibly easy book.

LeavingTeaching,

Does the bundle include the Taber's Cyclopedia book?

Exactly, that is what I am saying! If you have the Border's membership, they email me coupons all the time. Last week, it was 20%, this week 40%, week before last was 30%, 5 wks ago, was 40%. There is a Borders book store in Aventura mall. I'm not sure if there is one in Davie.

you saying i'm short? :chuckle

no!!:wink2:

leavingteaching,

does the bundle include the taber's cyclopedia book?

i don't think so. i don't really use the taber's either. for me, it's much quicker to use google on my cell. however, i believe some of my classmates use their taber's.

I don't think the bundle has the tabers. and frankly, I never used the book.

only books that I used were the lecture books & study guide books--- which by the way the only one that was included in the bundle was the pharm study guide.

Definitely get electrolytes made incredibly easy, the other made easy books your not going to have time to study, in process 1 I did 30 chapters in 8 weeks, this is how the program is, and for process 2 I did 15 chapters in 8 weeks, so dont go crazy buying books because you have such a short amount of time to do all the studying you have to do with the books you already have. I used the perry and potter skills book after I read the chapters in my lecture book. It helped me ALOT to understand the material and understand the procedures being learned. Also the tests are based on the procedures as well which you can find in the perry and potter skills book.

Hi 2bnurse! how is it going? Are you excited to be starting this May?

things are going, i got layed off from my job friday. i was gonna leave anyways at the end of april beacuse of school. but they let me go before then.

the thing is i had gave them my 2 weeks notice stating that my last day would be on april 24th. but they let me go on march 27th.

can i file for unemployment?

i am super excited about starting in May, since im not working. i made a schedule to utilize my time each day. in a few hours im going to go PBCC to their math lab working with the tutuor to practice the nursing math(proclac). i am going to do that 3 times this week. that way i will already know how to do those math for the MTB class.

then i will spend 2- 3 hr after tutoring at the library reading my fundamentals book and answering the objectives.

p.s...... i tend to get lazy and want to sleep if i stay home and will not get any book work done.
