hey to all,
right now i am at a lost for words because i just checked my email with broward college and i was accepted, so i know that others must have received a confirmation. just to confirm it i called and spoke with twanna burnee and she confirmed it. so, good luck to all others who have applied. to be completely honest, i really didn't expect to get accepted since it was a very last minute thing. cheers to me and others for the summer program!!!!!!!! i am in, i am really in.........:yeah:

if i read the booklist correctly, it looks like is $377 new.actually, that doesn't sound too bad, considering my a&p and micro books alone came close to that!
before getting too excited, i would find out which books are in the bundle. i know students who have found the fundamentals book for as cheap as $9. post the bundle contents.
2b-i don't see a problem with it, however, i honestly don't know how strict the professors are. hopefully leavingteaching will be able to answer this.
can't say. it really depends on your clinical instructor. they probably won't notice. one girl went to clinicals a few times before they realized that she purchased the radiology uniform by mistake. also, the sizes may be limited in the old uniforms.
you may be able to save on the pants. some students buy their pants from the uniform store in festival flea market on sample road. in the bookstore the pants are $15 (i think). at the uniform store, you can find pants that are more comfortable for as cheap as $6. they have dickies there also for $10.
i bought a white lab coat from there for $6 exactly like the one from the school ($25), but no logo. i wear it to clinicals. i haven't had any trouble yet.
i try to save as much money as possible. $377 may not seem like a lot to some of you, but this program nickle and dimes you constantly. it adds up. my first semester, i spent about $1200 on books, uniforms, and the process ii kit. i felt quite foolish when i realized: 1. some of the books in the bundle were useless. 2. my classmates had the same material for much cheaper. 3. the nursing depart. gets a kick back from the bookstore (i don't know if this is true. but my classmates and i voted and agreed.)
do i have to take mtb1370 (math topics for health related professions) and apb1600 (pharmacology) in my first nursing semester or can i want for a future semester?i know the first semester is very hard so i do not want to over do it.
thanks for feedback!

yes, unless you transfer in pharm. you have to take it and mtb during the first semester. mtb is 5-6 weeks. if you past the test on the 5th week, you're done. if not, you study and take it on the 6th week. pharm is 16 weeks, the entire semester. so, you'll take pharm while taking process i and process ii.
Well I didn't mean that $377 was pocket change or anything, but I was kind of expecting the bundle to be at least around $750.
What was in the bundle when you bought it, Leavingteaching? I know you had books you didn't need, but did you have most of what you did need? How much was it for you then?
Also, Leavingteaching, would you recommend the book Fundamentals of Nursing Made Incredibly Easy- mostly as something to read before I'm in the program, not necessarily for while I am IN the program?
Did you ever use any of the Made Incredibly Easy books while in the program for anything? I thought I saw the Fluids and Electrolytes one on the list, don't remember if there were more, or if they're even used.
Also, is there anywhere you can take the uniforms to have the BC Nursing logo put on, like if I bought plain blue scrubs (the correct color blue, of course)? I'm thinking probably not, but you may know of some secret place I can go, lol.

when i bought the bundle, it was more like $550. i think it had the following books:
fundamentals textbook - essential for process i and ii
skills - useful tool for during and after the program
jarvis assessment - will use the entire program and probably after graduation as a reference.
med-surg - not needed during first semester. required text for gi/gu, cardio, and ortho/neuro.
although some students, myself excluded, choose to use a different med-surg book.
diagnostic and lab - $40 book, never used
fundamentals study guide - $30 book, useless b/c it doesn't have any critical thinking questions
pharm book - $100 or more book, never used. i only needed the slides, study guide, and davis' drug book (not in the bundle)
i would recommend the pharm and med-surg study guide and davis' drug guide, which isn't included in the bundle. you'll also need to purchase a book for each speciality (psych, peds, ob), eeg made easy for cardio, a $130 kit for process ii, and a book for trends. also, budget to redo your physical/med clearence, both background checks, and drug screening, which all expire after one year.
also, leavingteaching, would you recommend the book fundamentals of nursing made incredibly easy- mostly as something to read before i'm in the program, not necessarily for while i am in the program? i haven't read this book. i would say check it out before the program. there's a lot of reading required when you start.did you ever use any of the made incredibly easy books while in the program for anything? i thought i saw the fluids and electrolytes one on the list, don't remember if there were more, or if they're even used.
i used the fluids and electrolytes made easy book. it is the only book i used that wasn't required.

i don't know. i found a place but it wasn't affordable. i just bought the uniform from bc. the have all sizes from xs to 6x. short students usually get the pants hemmed. (spelling?)

Yeah. $377 for the bundle. That seems less than what I was expecting. If you look at the North Campus booklist, it is the first one listed under NUR1020. It says under the title section: "NUR1020-2020 Bundle"
