Broward College Acceptance

Published

hey to all,

right now i am at a lost for words because i just checked my email with broward college and i was accepted, so i know that others must have received a confirmation. just to confirm it i called and spoke with twanna burnee and she confirmed it. so, good luck to all others who have applied. to be completely honest, i really didn't expect to get accepted since it was a very last minute thing. cheers to me and others for the summer program!!!!!!!! i am in, i am really in.........:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

Oh, well it looks like that layoff may work for you because you were laid off before your resignation was effective so it seems that you will still be able to file for unemployment.

You sound like I am, 'anal' but in a good way. I think that it is great that you are doing all of this prep for May. The May semester is 12 weeks vs 16 wks so I think that you are wise to get a jump on itl read your fundamentals and practice your math.

My sis said that they lost about 10 more students at the beginning of Process 2 a few weeks ago due to math. They were not able to start their clinicals and have to retract. She says that it is not so much that they don't know how to set up the problems but silly little mistakes ie rounding and them getting bogged down with the information and not knowing which numbers to pull out is what is killing them

It is smart of you to review math. don't forget to keep us posted when May comes. My sis says that they overwhelmed you with reading the first 2 weeks. So closer to May, you may want to switch over and start to read the first few chapters of Potter and Perry

thats the book im reading perry potter.....isnt it called the fundamentals book? i thought it was my bad.

of course i will keep you posted. i want to master the math inside and out especially since we cant use calculator, thats why im taking full advantage of all the resources available to me.

anyone else starting in May, the guy at Pbcc math lab is a master in dosage math and he is so patient. i advise if you have any free time to check him out.

see you in a bit, im heading out now to see him..later

i use this site in my spare time to practice, actually you can teach yourself also. i like it!

Student Nurse-

I wasn't talking about reading those in the program, at least for me, I meant to read them before I was in the program. Since they're easier reads, I thought I can read the Fundamentals Made Incredibly Easy now, and then start on the Perry/potter book, and then maybe have a good foundation starting. Then when I am in the program I will go over it all again.

I think you can try to collect unemployment. It certainly won't hurt to try, but in my opinion, you had planned to leave your job at a certain time and they let you go before that, so you should be able to collect.

As far as which book is Perry/Potter, I think both the Fundamentals and the Skills books are by Perry/Potter. For sure its the Fundamentals, though.

I might be applying for Jan '10, too. I will be done with pre-reqs in time to apply for Aug '09, I am just not certain if it will work out for my family for me to start then or to wait until Jan. Would you be attending Central campus for the program, then?

I am graduating with my LPN on April 9th and hoping to sit for my boards soon. I want to apply for the LPN-RN program but I've heard SO many negative things about BCC! Should I even waste my time? I am applying for South campus and all I hear is horrible things about all the teachers in every campus. I even heard that they are harder on LPN's because we are licenced. What do you think??

sunnyraygurl, you may want to still apply in aug if you have all of your prereqs and then see if you can defer to aug if your family situation warrants it. i am just suggesting this as every semester the gpa req seem to change.

good luck

2bnurse, thanks for that link, it is awesome!

Thanks Newgoal. That is actually my plan. I figured it can't hurt to have 2 chances to apply, if needed.

I cant take the anticipation!!! I just want to know if I was accepted like....NOW....for the August session. The wait is killing me. I hate where I am working now and just cant wait to quit and go to school full-time for what I really want to do with my life.:nurse: I would be just devastated if I didnt make it for august. :bluecry1:

So...do you guys have any anti-anxiety tips to make the time go by while I am waiting a litte more relaxing?:smackingf

Hi dizzyray822

Me too!! Waiting to hear that I'm in for August!! I'm freaking out a little bit too b/c of all the comments about how much of a "nightmare" the program is. Which Campus are you going to? I thought of going to North b/c I hear is the best one, but probably I'll just stay at Central (and take the pain!!). I guess you can try to get your life organized while you wait, like dentist appts., organizing your closets, stuff like that.

Have a nice Day!!

I know I'm nervous, too, after hearing what a nightmare the program is, or perhaps the professors are. And I haven't heard anything about FAU's program, but I've been seeing people are complaining similarly about Nova recently. So I suppose its not just BC.

It might be the hardest thing we'll ever have to do, but it is possible to succeed. For everyone that fails out or can't make it, there are plenty of people that can and do. (I'll have to refer to this post when I am having my moments of panic, as I do every once in a while, lol).

As for me, I am applying for August, but I have to wait until May 7th when the grades are posted to turn in my application, so I guess I'm not "technically" waiting for a response, yet. This semester is keeping me pretty busy with studying and all, so I haven't been thinking about it or worrying too much.
