Hey, I have a question. I am kind of new to the allnurses website and wanted to know how long should I wait for BCC Nursing program to post my total points. So far they added my GPA point and the broward resident but not the HOSA 5 points?

Thank you

Personally, I would contact Twanna or someone else in admissions and ask them. If you just wait, they may not add it. Perhaps, your HOSA points got overlooked or if not from Broward Schools were not accepted.

Thank you, I think your right I am goint to e-mail Mrs. Twana Burney now, but for some reason the same thing happened to my friend and her and I turned in our application same time and day.

I need to contact someone in the Health Science Admissions Dept as well. I have my Broward residency points but nothing for my GPA, so as it stands right now I have 1 pt. I'll never get in with 1 pt ;) Thank goodness I will be at school tomorrow anyway for Micro. I'll stop in and see what's up.

By the way.....for HOSA, did you and your friend complete that within the last two years? I think they just changed that requirement and now it will only count if it was completed within the last two years.

Also, did your points just show up today?

I went to the Admission office last week to ask about the HOSA points because I had HOSA in high school, what I found out was in order for you to get those points, you must have had HOSA with a 2yr period, after 2yrs you only get to waive those HIV/AID,Dosmetic Violence, etc non-credit class....so if its past 2yrs since you had HOSA then you wont see any points for that, but I would double check with them again just to be sure.....good luck

I've been reading this entire thread and received some great information. Thanks to all for the info and advice. I applied to BCs nursing program to start this August. I was really worried about the point system and would I have enough to get in. My GPA is pretty good; I received 13 points for my GPA and 1 point for being a Broward resident for a total of 14 points. I am taking Micro at Central right now. All my CAEs are completed so I should be good to go. They said it should be two weeks until they start sending out emails, but I find myself looging in a couple times a day to see if there is anything there. Is everyone else going through this anticipation stage? Normally I am not like this, but I walked away from a lucrative profession to go back to school and pursue nursing.

Also, I live 5 minutes from South campus. It seems that no one has anything good to say about South Campus. In all likelihood, that is where I will be attending (provided I get accepted). Is there anyone out there that has anything good to say about South Campus?

Thanks again for all the info.

I just started the LPN to RN transition program last week at South Campus. So far they are a pretty tough bunch. I'm an Army veteran, and there have been some days in the program, that I've literally had flashbacks of my training days...that lump in my throat, butterflies in my stomach, and overall sick feeling of fear. LOL I've also had a headache by the end of almost every day. It has been that overwhelming and intense.

But I actually like all of my professors. The one I have for clinicals won't let you get away with anything. But she knows her stuff and pushes us to think. So I'm genuinely glad to have her. I guess the fact that they are so strict, is the reason they put out such good RNs. I think it's a good thing.

This site helped me prepare for it though. I went into it just about terrified and expecting the worse. So it didn't hit me as hard as it probably did, some others who are in my class. For instance, on the first day when we had a break, I overheard someone say out loud, "Oh my goodness. What have I gotten myself into?" LOL I just smiled, because I already knew it would be like that, thanks to this site.

We started with almost 60 people and already a few have dropped. The professors also told us from day one, that only about half of us (if that) will graduate. It's not because they try to fail you, but they have a standard and expect you to meet it. And they did say that a lot of people drop out due to personal reasons, as well.

It's scary, but I think as long as you pay attention, listen, and do as you are told, you can make it. I just keep reminding myself that it won't be forever, and the rewards will be well worth the suffering. ;)

Hi ladies!! I am in the Nursing program at BCC Central Campus, I am in GIGU and I have Houlihan for both lecture and clinical, All I can say is after getting through Process 1 and 2 GIGU is like a breath of fresh air, its still tough but its not soooooo stressful as Process. Dont get me wrong for the first week of clinical I had a headache every single day. But I can say that now I feel like im thinking like an RN and feel more like an RN (im still learning alot every day) But my physical assessment is no sweat now, and also my Nursing Diagnoses are easier for me to pick out now. Good luck to everyone coming into the program and If you need any advice let me know

Thanks for this post....my goal is just to keep focused and get through Process. Not that it will be easier but i'm sure I will be more adjusted after that.
