Brookhaven Spring 2019

Published

Hey Guys! Thought I'd start a forum for those applying for Spring 2019 of the

Brookhaven nursing program. I still have to do the Critical Thinking exam, dosage calc class, Hesi! Can't wait to talk to you guys as we apply!!

I completed the CT exam ~ 6 months ago. It didn't seem difficult, but you don't know which questions were missed. I didn't do that great, but I don't plan on retaking it. There is no good way to study for it.

EDIT - most of the questions were "what would you do in this situation". talking about issues in front of family, co-worker giving wrong meds, etc

Specializes in ICU.

As I understand it, you can only take it in the Testing Center. I clicked on Exam A in Blackboard from home but when you click on it, it loads a page saying Exam A but it's grayed out and you can't click on it to take it. Don't forget to print your testing slip before you head to the Testing Center!

How many points will you be applying with, dmyre?

Thanks, babysplash. I tried clicking the exam afterwards and is locked. So it has to be done at the testing center.

I still need to pass Dosage Calc and take the HESI, so I don't know yet. I believe I have 11.1 points for the CT exam though.

11.1 pts. Is not bad for the CT exam. Even though I hope to get 15 on the CT, I'm good enough with 10 or 11. But I do need to score well on the HESI!! What methods did you use to study for the HESI?

An 11.1 on the CT is a 74. I just started studying this week for the HESI, and will test on Sep 10. I'm using the 4th edition of the HESI A2 exam review book, Youtube, Quizlet, and a full version of the Pocket Prep app.

Sooo... my Hep B titer was negative. I began an accelerated procedure (twinrix) earlier this week and hope to receive a positive titer before the enrollment deadline. The process is lengthy, so if you haven't started yet, you need to.

How long ago did you recieve your Hep B doses?

I received my first shot on 8/28/18, my second is scheduled for 9/4/18, and my final shot is scheduled for 9/18/18. I'll test for a positive titer ~ 9/24/18.

Thats great! Hope your titer comes out positive. I'm scheduled for the titer test on Tuesday and I hope the antibody is present. It has has been years since I last recieved my three doses of HEP B. So I hope I recieve a positive test.

Hey guys, I'm confused about the dosage cal workshop. It says its not offering any courses this Fall at Dcccd. is the workshop a 1 day class and you test at the end? Can you guys tell me more about it? Thanks.
