Brookhaven Spring 2019

Published

Hey Guys! Thought I'd start a forum for those applying for Spring 2019 of the

Brookhaven nursing program. I still have to do the Critical Thinking exam, dosage calc class, Hesi! Can't wait to talk to you guys as we apply!!

Hi there. I noticed the CT exam was removed from the ranking form. Have they said now what points would most likely get you an interview? I assume its less now that the CT exam points will not count.

I see that the ranking form has been changed in the following:

- 3.0 is the minimum gpa requirement for prerequisites instead of 2.5

- the critical thinking exam has been removed

- 0 points will be given if you earn a C in any of the supporting courses (exception for ethics and nursing pathophysiology)

- science must be taken within 5 years, can not be older

- Now they accept applications with a minimum of 20pts instead of 27pts

- if you work as CNA, PCT, EMT, LVN, or CMA, you earn 2pts

Dang that's a lot, hope it's better for the people applying.

Did everyone have to have their vaccine record submitted with the application or could submit that after?

Congrats to all of you who have gotten accepted! I moved to Dallas from North Carolina over the summer. I had been accepted into a nursing program there but my husband got a job here and it's added at least a year to my plan... and now I just got word that Brookhaven will not accept my A&P I and II from North Carolina and I'm having a heart attack.

Did anyone have issues like this? Was anyone able to successfully convince them to accept classes? I cannot take those classes again! Those were the hardest earned A's I ever got! Any advice appreciated.

Also, for the folks on here doing dual enrollment -- could you explain that process to me, please? Thank you!

I still have not received any email. What about you? It might be different for us because we are dual enrollment and we don't have to do the interview. If we weren't rejected, i'm guessing that we are accepted in the program and they will send everyone, both dual-enrollment and interviewees, an acceptance email all at once. But I actually plan to go to the office and confirm this.

How to go about applying for dual enrollment ?

I graduated from Brookhaven nursing in December. I wanted to connect with your class's Facebook page to see if anyone was interested in buying my used books / supplies from the program. Do you all have a Facebook page?

Hey Muzna,

You have to make it into the nursing program at Brookhaven first,... after that you also have to apply to which ever program you want to apply to within that FIRST semester enrolled in your nursing program (They have bridge program with UTA/Tech, and you can also apply to TWU).. in order to get your BSN you have to take all the core classes required by the state of Texas on top of the pre-reqs required for ADN... (2 histories, 2 political/government, 2 writing/english, 1 fine arts, math-statistics, etc etc)

Here's Texas Tech requirements:

ADN students, in the next to the last semester of course work at the College must demonstrate a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale for general education prerequisite courses.

Pre-Nursing courses must be completed with a grade of C or better and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.

Completion of 54 credit hours of general education prerequisite courses prior to first class day of the RN to BSN program..

For full admission status, ADN graduates must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and hold a license in good standing with the Texas Board of Nursing. If the NCLEX has not been passed, provisional admission will be offered..
