Hey Guys! Thought I'd start a forum for those applying for Spring 2019 of the
Brookhaven nursing program. I still have to do the Critical Thinking exam, dosage calc class, Hesi! Can't wait to talk to you guys as we apply!!
Dosage calc is multiple choice, and you will need a scantron. It is 100 questions. If you study the two practice exams on ecampus, you should be good to go. Bring those exams with you to class because Dr. Meyer will allow ~30 minutes before the exam to answer any questions you have. For example, you would say "test 1, number 42" and he will read it, and explain the process to determine the answer.
Anyone know when the next dosage cal. workshop will be? Or how often the offer the workshop? I was told January, but that wouldn't give applicants enough time to study and complete the course if the last business day of February is the due date for Fall applications. I wanted to sign up for the current workshop, which will give me a week to study and prepare for the final class meeting this Saturday the 15th. Although I won't be applying for Spring, I want to pay for the course anyway so I'd at least have 2 chances to pass and study until the next workshop for Fall applicants.
Hi All,
Ms. Barb has acknowledged that we should not get so wrapped up with how many points we have. At the end of the day, the faculty make the ultimate decision. People who literally have 30 points have recently been admitted into the program.
WE GOT THIS! JUST KEEP POSITIVE, DO WELL ON THE CT AND HESI AND HOPE FOR ACCEPTANCE! :-)
Hi everyone! I've been stalking this thread for awhile and thought I'd say hello :) I'm applying with 39.2 points. I also applied to TCC and will be applying to MVC. I'm getting a little anxious to complete all these application steps and finally turn mine in. I feel like Brookhaven definitely has the most application steps with the extra critical thinking and dosage exams... How does everyone feel about the program, in terms of schedule? I'm nervous about how I'll make it work with my two young children -- the summer and fall schedule looks pretty intense!
I did not do as well on the HESI as I had hoped. I scored an 82.8 which will not provide me with enough points to apply this semester, so I will have to take some more support courses and retake the HESI during the next application process. This is such a long process, but it will be worth it. I'm so bummed...

I think you should still take the chance and apply...to never know what could happen

I'm still waiting on my third shot for Hep B, and if I can get a positive titer in time, I will meet with an advisor to see if there is a chance. I know it is a longshot, but it will be worth the effort. Thanks for the encouragement.

It's just better than asking "what if"...my aunt graduated from this program not too long ago, and one of the girls she went through the program with got called in the day of orientation because someone changed their mind and decided not to go...so literally, anything can happen

Is the dosage calc exam multiple choice? if so, do we need a scantron?
