This forum is for anyone applying to the nursing program at Brookhaven College for the spring 2016 semester.

I will be applying for the spring semester and would like to meets others who are applying as well.

Welcome annaberedden, who do you know in the Fall 2015 class? I've met a couple of them and I'm in their FB group soaking in as much info as possible from them. This week is going to fly by (I hope). I'm terrible at interviews, I freeze. Hopefully I'll do ok if I get chosen. Good luck to you, and those of you with 24 points are pretty competitive in my opinion.

Hello and thanks for the welcome! I know Kassi and Steve who started in the Fall.

I am sure everyone is nervous about the interview, so you aren't alone! Good luck to you!

I have a friend who started the elcentro/methodist program, she loves it so far. She told me they don't get overwhelmed and the professors try to make it as manageable as possible as far as balance with work family and friends is/are concerned.

I will still work but am PRN.

I am curious about schedules mostly how many days do they have to be at campus and hospital at an early time. Like are they at school at 8 for a few days a week and clinicals at the crack of dawn one day or more? Trying to figure out what I will need to do for kids in the mornings.

I know it's not 100% reliable considering clinicals change all the time- but to get an idea of the schedule you could look up that semesters RN courses on econnect and see the day/time it's listed.

Spring courses aren't available yet but you can look up Fall courses just to get an idea

We don't pick our schedule for classes or clinicals. There is a list online of all the hospitals, but basically it is any major one in Dallas and maybe Denton. My friend told me they go 3 days a week for lecture, and then they just started clinical last week... it is every saturday 7am to 7pm.

So they go 3 days a week PLUS the clinical day?

Their clinicals are only 1 day a week, they just started them last week. The first few weeks of school are pre-clinicals and they are also once a week. My friend's schedule started as preclinical Mondays 8-5, off Tuesday, open lab Wednesday (optional), Thursday is skills from 1-5 and Fridays is lecture for everyone 9-2. The only variance was preclinical was either Mon or Tuesday and skills was either the morning class or the afternoon on Thursdays.... Now that clinicals have started, she no longer has preclinicals and her clinicals are Wednesday from 7am-7pm. hope that helps. Also, different groups have clinicals on different days.... Some have Mon, Tuesday, Wed and I've even seen a group with Saturday clinicals.

Thanks!!! That helps give an idea; it seems pretty do-able.

Another day down, hopefully the wait will be over soon :)

Great info, thanks!!

Happy Hump Day everyone, hopefully we get some more applicants on this forum as we go through this process together. One day closer!

You have much more info than me! Thanks for that. I was wondering if everyone's schedule was the same.

Good luck you guys!!

Just finished history 1301&1302 today. I just love the fast track classes.

Back to stalking the threads on here:)
