Brookhaven Nursing Spring 2016

Published

This forum is for anyone applying to the nursing program at Brookhaven College for the spring 2016 semester.

I will be applying for the spring semester and would like to meets others who are applying as well.

I'm in the process of packing and about to move to our new house. Between, that, work, my husband and kids and knowing that life is going to get a whole lot more stressful I'm just enjoying spending time with my kids and family right now.

It's Monday and hopefully by Friday we'll have some interview e-mails!! I'm excited and nervous. Right now more nervous than excited. It seemed so far away for so long and now it's almost here! Hoping, praying and finger crossing haha

Hope everyone has a wonderful, stress-free week while we wait with great anticipation!

Plus it should be easier for them to email only 50 people vs the last set of emails was personalized to our amount of points.

Hello all! I just found this forum and currently waiting until Friday with the rest of you! I have 24 points and praying that it will be enough. I know a girl who was accepted to Fall2015 with 22 points. They accept 10 less students for the spring, but trying to be positive. Best of luck to all of you and hopefully this week will fly by!

welcome annaberedden!! I applied with 24.14 so I know how your feeling!! But that's great you know someone in the program so you have an idea of what it's like!!

Did your friend give you any insight on how the interview step works out- like are those invited to interview pretty much either going to be accepted OR be an alternate?? if so, do you happen to know if they used all the alternates Fall 2015?

50 of the top ranking students are invited to the interview and then they choose 40 out of those 50. They will interview and also have a timed writing sample, both of which you get points from. Once invited to the interview, they will let you know that you can go to a practice interview. My friend said they ask simple questions like "Why do you want to be a nurse" and general interview questions. I am not sure if they used any alternates for the fall but I have read that some were accepted as alternates in previous years. I was shocked to know that there were around 200 students enrolled in the dosage calculations class! That is a lot of students.

I have another friend who applied with 33 points for spring16. That is extremely intimidating. The wait is nerve-racking to say the least. I wish Brookhaven accepted 70 students like El Centro and Northlake! I applied to those programs as well but will not find out until next month!

annaberedden, which would be your first choice?

great info!!! thank you

Just a few more days of waiting!!!!

I was wrong, 50 are invited to interview in the spring and 70 are invited in the fall.

Brookhaven is my first choice because it's closest to home and the shortest program. Next is Northlake, but the program is 24 months long.

Have you applied to El centro or northlake?

No, unfortunately not. This is my first time applying and I didn't have everything in order by the deadline for other schools, my points are pretty low too so am not even nervous anymore, lol.....I'll probably apply to elcentro and tvcc since the application period is almost open.

I didn't know about Northlake's program. I have all my eggs in this basket. Hopefully 26.83 will be enough. I don't have enough support classes for El Centro to even be competitive.
