I have my core classes as well but my GPA isn't good enough for a university. It will be if I transfer over from an RN, but going straight to the university you need to have a high GPA.. like 3.6/3.7. Focus on getting the best grades possible. Although expensive, I've heard good things about the Dallas Nursing Institute. They are no longer for-profit and easier to get into than most programs. West Coast College is easy to get into but probably the most expensive. Good luck! With DNI and WCU they have programs that start every month or so.

I'm an alternate as well with 24 points before the interview. Good luck to all the other alternates! How many people already dropped out? 2? Nathorton and someone else... I wonder if they made it to the interview. Anyone else dropping out? I heard some do after success camp which is the week before school starts. Anything can happen in 2 months! Stay positive!

He sent me some other information and if anyone wants to give me their email address I can send it to all of you. I'm not sure if you want to post your email on here, but I'm not sure if we can private message here. He has some notes from one class, lists of what we need, and some other general info. It's nice to see how he organizes his information. He said he doesn't mind if I share- he encouraged it! Good luck to all! The instructors said we will find out who made it before Thanksgiving.

I had my interview and wish I did better. PD82 is right about the sample writing and interview questions. They are very basic questions. I was so nervous! I hope I get in. The instructors seemed very nice and said they cared about their students. They seemed very passionate about their work and proud of their student's success. It would be nice if they accepted all 50!

Amandabear96, I was accepted to North Lakes program and also invited to interview with Brookhaven. Hopefully I get the chance to choose between the two. I've heard some bad things about the North Lake/El Centro program like teachers quitting in the middle of the semester or they just didn't care about the student's grades. Not sure if it was an isolated incident or not. I really think both programs will be equally hard. You spend the same amount of time in clinicals and in the classroom, the only difference is you get the summer off with North lake/El centro. I also have two small children so I need to figure out if I want the summer off to be with them. I know someone who graduated from Brookhaven last year and right after she passed her NCLEX she got a job at the Parkland ER. I don't think getting a job will be hard with an ADN. Like people said before, most hospitals will allow you to get your BSN within 3 years. Good luck on deciding your program!
