Brookhaven Nursing Spring 2016

U.S.A. Texas

Published

This forum is for anyone applying to the nursing program at Brookhaven College for the spring 2016 semester.

I will be applying for the spring semester and would like to meets others who are applying as well.

I love the fast track classes.. I took them as much as I could to get my associate of art.

SO... good news here... I was accepted into Northlake's program!! I am so excited and a lot of my nerves have calmed down! Brookhaven is still my first choice, but I have to consider all my options. North lake isn't fast-paced.. and I would get a summer break which is nice because I have a 4 year old who is starting kindergarten next year, and a 2 year old. I'm a single mom.. so maybe the break will be worth it.

My mom and I cried so much this morning. Tears of joy. I pray and hope the best for all us.

We all need this, I know! Can't wait to hear from you guys about your acceptance!!

I have a 4 year old son and an 11 year old boy as well. I was worried if I got in that I could potentially miss his first day of school because of clinicals or class but I was relieved to find out that at Brookhaven we will get pretty much the entire month of August off for a break. That was a HUGE relief to hear. Congratulations on getting in to Northlake! I will be bawling if I get in to Brookhaven for sure! I have worked at this for years. Although I'm not a single mom, my husband works out of town and is gone several days at a time, so I rely on the help of my parents when he isn't home. I've done the single mom thing when I just had my oldest son, it's so hard. Kudos to you for your hard work so far, keep it up!

Congratulations annaberedden, how many points did you have for their program? It's good to have the option to chose.

congrats annaberedden!!!!! North lake is a really nice school- I applied there as well but did not expect to get in with my little 24 points LOL :roflmao: although with the new point system I have 28 points

My first choice is Brookhaven for sure- because it's accelerated. I know it's going to be intense but I'm up for it right now. Northlake is definitely going to be an easier pace so you just need to decide what will work best for you and your family

Well, no emails today guys!! Perhaps tomorrow will be the day!?!

Congratulations on the acceptance into Northlake. I was under the impression that we could only apply at one place at a time or the application could be disqualified? I know I read that somewhere, either here at Brookhaven's site or at El Centro.

Due to my A & P classes being over five years old, I can only apply at Brookhaven and if people have other options, maybe that opens up a slot for me as well. :)

Good luck everyone.

Hey Jeff! Here is what is on El Centro's website:

A student may apply to more than one El Centro College Health Occupations program during a given filing period. However, if the student receives an acceptance letter to a specific program, confirms their intent to enter that program, and registers for program courses; their application to any other Health Occupations program that may share that filing period will be null and void.

Further, an individual enrolled in an El Centro College Health Occupations program may not apply or be considered for admission selection for another El Centro College Health Occupations program unless their current program of study will complete before the second program curriculum begins.

----

I think that this note is related to the El Centro Health programs, not brookhaven. Brookhaven (I don't think) is part of the El Centro Health Occupations programs. So say you apply to radiology and nursing, and accept the radiology program and register for classes- then the nursing app is voided.

I'm not completely sure about all of the above information, so if I do get an invite to Brookhaven then I will email both deans and ask them. I have until the 30th to accept North Lake.

I had more points towards Northlake's program than I thought. I ended up with 31 points.

Jeff, I think your BHC points are higher than mine .. so you are okay either way!! Good luck!!!!!

Eagerly awaiting an interview email as well with the rest of you guys! Good luck everybody; hopefully we can embark on this journey together. :)
