Anyone applying for Fall 2019? I know it seems far away, but the application is due the end of Feb. It is best we begin to prepare now, especially those who need immunizations.
I need:
Critical thinking exam.
Retake Hesi for a higher competitive score.
Dosage calculations workshop.
I'm taking Chem 1405 and Phil 2306 this fall and Pharma in winter.

If they do then your chances are higher of getting into that particular nursing program vs coming from the outside. Plus, you’re gauranteed a job after you graduate I’m sure. That’s what attracted me to Collin College. Very cheap program, they pay for everything, plus a guaranteed job. As a new nurse we’re definitely going to need experience some kind of way.
I have interest into why UTSW does not have a nursing program but I figure since UTSW is connected to UT Austin, maybe this is why. However, I don't know who I have to talk to about it but I'm thinking about fighting for UT to have a separate nursing program from the UT system-similar to Methodist and Medical City's ADN program (where you grow your own RN's). I think it would be very beneficial. I have talked to my manager and she figures I will have a job right after, I just don't know if it will be on my floor. A nursing residency for L&D, NICU or Postpartum has to be open at the time I'm coming out of school which is scary because I don't want to work any other floor than the one I'm on now. I figure Brookhaven streamlines getting your BSN without having to wait until the end of school to do it which is great! I'm excited to see if you get in at Collin College and/ or Brookhaven. I can't wait for the acceptance letters to go out.

Taking as many of the support courses as possible will help boost your points. And definitely retake the HESI if you know you can do better - that’s what I did. I bought the study book, used the pocketprep app and brought my score up by 6 points
I found some helpful material on preparing for the interview and thought I’d share. At a minimum, it gives you some things to think about.
The thumbnails of these attachments are too small for me to see if they uploaded in the right page number order so maybe download and then look at them.
My interview is Monday from 8:30 to 10:00 and then I go straight to lab for micro (guess I need to bring a change of clothes!) but I promise to post something Monday afternoon for folks who have late Monday appointments or go in Tuesday. Good luck everyone!
