Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.
My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much.
(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)
Hello Jems,
I am from Davao also. I had my medical examinations last March 26 and am still waiting for the embassy's feedback. I tried to call the embassy's hotline to inquire about the status of my application. I was told that it takes 6 weeks to process the visa for bridging course from the date the application was received. Can you please update me if you already received your visa? By the way, what type of visa did you apply for? Mine was Subclass 456.
hi lani, really? so its been 3weeks now since you've done your medical and yet you havent receive your visa still? so it means its not standard to be waiting for 2 weeks after med. i was just being told about that timeframe so thats what keeps me holding.. i hope we'll receive it this week coz i am expecting it this week though.i'll let u know if il have it na.update me as well.. mine too was 456.

Hi Jems,
I don't think that the waiting period of 2 weeks is standard. I have a friend who applied for 456 last year who got her visa a week after her medicals..And another friend who got her visa 2 weeks after...I just hope we can have ours this week. For what school are you? When is your intake?

im for May intake ihna perth.. how about you??
Having a Deakin certificate as they are a university not a private organisation that wants to make a fairly large profit at the end of each course.
Deakin is a well known and repected Australian university, especially for their nursing programs and does not pass students that are under performing.
I would not think twice about it...applicant from. Deakin who have a nursing faculty and research and an applicant from a private organisation with no research no post grad nursing no undergrad nursing, strictly feeds off overseas nurses.......my chioice Deakin applicant.
..and I do not mean everything pertains tp AAON or IHNA. I have a bad taste in my mouth for any private providers being given the okay to run bridging courses for Registered Nurses.
I believe that this important role of bridging to Australia nursing should be done at university level not a private training organisation. After all Australian nurses are to receive all their education through a university, why is a bridging course any different? IMHO
