Bridging Program in Australia

World Registration

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

Having a Deakin certificate as they are a university not a private organisation that wants to make a fairly large profit at the end of each course.

Deakin is a well known and repected Australian university, especially for their nursing programs and does not pass students that are under performing.

I would not think twice about it...applicant from. Deakin who have a nursing faculty and research and an applicant from a private organisation with no research no post grad nursing no undergrad nursing, strictly feeds off overseas nurses.......my chioice Deakin applicant.

Thank for the info ceridwyn !

Even if you graduated from a university but you lack the work experience, I don't think Australian employers will hire you. A rich work experience and an Australian license are some of the essential things that matter to any employer. AHPRA will not allow private institutions to conduct bridging courses if they are not qualified in the first place that's why they have this accreditation of license to conduct the course which they apply for or regularly renew.

I would like to ask how to go about with the APF check required by the Australian College of Nursing? I'm for the May intake. Also, has anyone applied for the Visitors Visa 600 (Business Stream 1415) already? Thanks! :)

im for May intake ihna perth.. how about you??

That's actually what i have in mind. Any facility offering such course for nurses may it be in a university such as deakin or a private institution like ihna or aaon, as long as it is accredited by AHPRA and NMBA should not be questioned by anyone.

if you live in manila, maybe visa application is faster compared to other cities/places that takes weeks to have it.

hi qymburlee!!

I'm a newbie here :) I am currently taking up the assessment of competence program here in ACoN Burwood..I am really enjoying it; however, I'm still anxious about the coming clinical placement. If you could kindly give me some tips, that would be awesome!! :) also, tomorrow, we'll be doing the "clinical skills"..any tips? :) i hope we can meet each other :)

Hopefully yes. I waited 3 weeks since I lodged my visa application before it was released. If you lodge it now, even if it will take a month, you can still make it..

Hi nurseZEL,

When did you receive your offer letter from Deakin? Thanks!

Hi Julairose! May I ask when you applied for your visa and what visa you applied for? and for the 3 weeks..was your medical included in that duration?
