I don't frequently participate actively in these forums and usually reserve my visits to when the need for opinions or advice arise concerning my duties within our shared profession. I was just on such a mission today when I noticed this news... It's very disconcerting to hear about this tragic event. I do not feel this loss as personally as many of you must since I did not know Brian personally, but as a nurse and colleague I am saddened and as a father and husband I feel my grief compounded. I hope those who have passed will find peace, and be remembered for those things that they accomplished while they were here with us.
When I clicked on this thread, my heart and stomach just plunged, I lost my breath and a jolt of adrenaline shot through me.
Such a tragic loss for everyone.....family, friends, community, co-workers, and the entire AN community.
We never know what other people are going through in their lives, but we know the sorrow we feel at the passing of the Short family. May they rest in peace.
It is a comfort to read all these tributes. I never knew of Brian, other than he started this site and was always coming up with mostly terrific new ideas and threads, and he was such an encouraging person.
I am very grateful to the AN community for the joy of sharing with all the unique posters here. I am very grateful to Brian for his visionary ideas coming to fruition.
God's peace to all.

I had the pleasure of meeting Brian last year at Magnet, and can truly say how sorry I am to see such a wonderful person leave this world much too early. He was an amazing person with great passion for this profession and community. I look forward to seeing his impact continue on with this site.
