Breast Implants

Published

I was just wondering how you feel about this subject. Do you have them? Would you get them? Have you cared for patients with them and what was your experience? Have you seen any good or bad outcomes?

I'm reading a lot of responses saying that it's sad how women go to these extremes for men, but I think it's sad how so many people assume that women are making these decisions for men. Is it so impossible that a woman can make a decision for herself, without thinking about how men will respond?

Go for it! You only live once so you may as well be happy with yourself! I went to Bogota, Colombia where they perform VERY HIGH quality Cosmetic Denistry and Plastic Surgery. I had a complete Makeover on my Teeth(10 gold /ceramic crowns, all my old siver fillings removed and replaced with the newer white resin Natural fillings. My Dentist also made me a custom plastic appliance I use at nite during sleep to prevent grinding--all my work cost $1800. My work in Miami would have cost me a minimum of $10,000 to a High of $13,000. Even after my plane ticket, lodging and meals(approx $1000 for 2 weeks) I still saved a minimum of $8000 !!!!!!!! A friend of mine went for Plastic Surgery--Boob Job and it cost $1900 and this included everything(labs, xrays, ect) A Tummy Tuck ranges from $1800 to $2400. Liposuction(which I am having done there at a future date-estimates range from $600-$1200 depending on Volume and areas to be suctioned. Prices are all inclusive(labs, meds, ect--not like here in the States where the Docs nail you for every little item which shoots the final bill way up) High quality work at extremely reasonable prices. Prices I received were from members(docs) who belonged to the Colombian Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Ps-on the Abdominal Lipo, its more then just Cosmetic; it has been shown medically to decrease the risk of developing Adult Onset Diabetes in Males. Like Savings on Plastic Surgery can be realized in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sao Paulo, Brazil but I am more familiar with Bogota, the Capital of Colombia. I have NEVER had any trouble with personal security in this Colombian city, BTW, in 8 visits there.

How did you learn about having surgery in Bogota? How did you get the confidence that it is just as safe as a very reputable place in the US?

Real boobs here! I have been sporting a size D since I was 11. Even after having a baby...they do not sag and I love them. Hubby likes too.

I don't care if others are getting their breasts done, but I do find it sad that someone would think that having bigger boobs is going to ultimately make you complete. I have big boobs and wouldn't mind having them a bit smaller. I guess no matter what we have, we are not perfectly happy with it.

I agree that recommending (actually prescribing) raw milk as a relief for arthritis or any other number of ailments (no matter how legit it seems to you)---- is practicing outside your scope. I would tread REALLLLLY carefully here were I you----or plan to face the BON one day, up on some kind of criminal charge.

Sorry I should have clarified. They weren't my patients and they were not in a clinical setting. But you are right it would be outside of my scope of practice if I were to recommend that to patients.

Nursing is very respected. It is opinionated dangerous nurses like you that give some people reason to suspect nurses. Stay within your practice and look at yourself before pointing fingers.

But anyhow, back to the implants. The original post if one needs reminding....

For those who have them, do you run? My friend has implants and says she runs less because of them, not that she minds,, mind you... lol

What is your problem anyways
You are not an RN. You have turned an interesting thread on breast implants into a crazy diatribe of "raw milk & steroids". If you think nursing is such a low pay-low respected profession why do you want to be a part of it?

Here here!

Ummmm, lighten up. If you wonder why I ask, read your post.... geez

Perhaps you do not understand why nurses come here....

I don't remember you asking me a question. And yes I understand why nurses come here. But hypocrisy, especially from fellow (old ones at that) nurses/nursing students whatever is something I can't stand. Also people that talk about a subject they have no clue about. And I never attacked anyone on here personally.

Exactly my point!

So what? LOL I could have used the handle President Bush as my handle. THIS IS A MESSAGE BOARD!!! Relax. I simply made a point. You (women and nurses in general not specifically you) sit there and condone even glorify women who have cosmetic surgery yet will chastize and demonize men for using anabolic steroids. You snidely remarked "steroids are illegal." That brought me to the issue of raw milk. Raw milk is illegal too. I was trying to point out the fallacy in your comment. So what if they are illegal? Then you call me dangerous, uncompassionate etc. Why do I want to be a nurse? Number one I want to help people and am very much a patient advocate in many regards but that doesn't mean I want to do bedside nursing my whole life. There are plenty of outlets in the nursing profession where I can pursue my healthcare passions. And I happen to think nurses make decent money sometimes great money considering. How many jobs do you know of where you can get an associates degree and get out making 40k, with job security, great benefits, flexibility etc. Let's be honest none of us would work if we didn't have to so yes those things are important to me.
