For those of us still here, anyone have fun plans for break?
We are traveling to visit my family, which we usually do during Thanksgiving but my husband wanted to switch things up this year. Sadly we can only stay three days because of his work schedule. I'm a Bears fan, my cousin's husband is a Vikings fan. I'm excited to tease him, payback for the last few years.
Other than that? Sleep, eat, repeat for me until Jan 7th!
Half a week at Thanksgiving, 24th-1st off for winter break, spring break is a full week and I don't get out til late June! We start the day after Labor Day, though. We do 180 student days / 189 teacher days.
I start week before Labor Day, have 185 school days / 195 teacher days. If no snow days this year, we will be done June 17 (ha! like that will happen in Northeast).
1/2 week at Thanksgiving, 1.5 week at Christmas, 1 week in February, 1 week in April, than school year over.

What is the week in February for?
We get 2 weeks for Christmas & Spring Break, but our school year goes until the very end of June. You win some you lose some. Still 180 days of school. This year we get out before the last week of May, it surprised me! We get 2 weeks at Christmas and a full week at Thanksgiving, as well as spring break.
It's so neat to see what others are doing for Christmas break!
The non-stop food starts on Sunday and doesn't end until Wednesday with my family, so I'll be elbow-deep in pie dough and dumpling filling and turkey through those days. My sister is coming up from PA, so we get to enjoy our usual quality time together. My boyfriend and I are meeting each other's parents at Christmas parties! Should be interesting. Other than that, movies on my couch, and maybe some nature walks if the weather is nice.
February break / winter break. It is really a New England thing I've learned. I didn't have it when I was in high school in NJ a million years ago.
It was energy conservation week in the 80's. the thought was to close schools during the historical coldest week of the yr. to save energy. After years of warmer weather (late 80's and early 90's, when National Geographic had covers predicting the next ice age) it fell by the wayside.

Gotcha, makes sense. We don't have to worry about that much here in TX.
No major plans for Winter Break. No travel plans anyway.
Boyfriend and I are going to see a brass band in Chicago tonight. Xmas eve we will be at my sister's house and then Xmas day at my house. Then just chilling for the remainder of break!
I am kitty-sitting for my friend's 2 cats Saturday through Wednesday. They are 6 months old and I'm hoping they get along with my 11 year old cat! She does not trust the cat sitter she used over Thanksgiving who didn't check on her kitties for 2 days. I am excited to have them here!

We return 1/7, kids return 1/8.
No great plans just having grandparents and a few of my girls college friends that don't have family around over on Xmas eve & day. Will be literally "netflix and Chillin" ....yes I now know the real meaning thanks to you lovely people :)
I am thankful for Xmas being in a few days so we can be crazy busy this weekend with cleaning & prepping Xmas but then we get almost a full 2 weeks to relax.
