Bitter dried up nurses that need to RETIRE

Nurses Relations

Published

Title says it all . Second semester baby nurse in clinicals at a major hospital.

Patients = Awesome

Most Nurses = Very sweet and helpful

Some nurses are rude, terse, horrible with patients, horrible with students and horrible with each other.

To those nurses I say this, please retire.

Its only a matter of time before management figures out they can live without you and hire some very hungry and very competent new grads that want to be there to fill your dusty shoes....

word...

sadly the vast majority of the time these happen to also be charge nurses....in charge of what? Misery?

To clarify, a bitter dried up old nurse is a nurse of any age that has been on the job for one day too long

That does it then. :lol2: I'm am sure I have days where I am a bitter dried up old nurse (I'm glad someone told me...I had no idea). Any of the students or youngins who would like to offer to pay my bills and put my kids through college send me a message with your address so that I can have all of my bills redirected to your houses. And thanks in advance for your geniorosity. :yeah:

Anyway, theory and pharm test on monday, then another theory and pharm test the following monday, 700 hundred pages to read and understand by 6/27 lol, study time :)

I do have a lot to learn, and I love to learn. But when I get paired up with someone who obviously wants nothing to do with me, its tough.

ah...so you took the insult personally, and put it on bitter nurses??

perhaps this bitter nurse, saw you as a difficult nsg student.

I have a degree in management and tons of management experience, as soon as possible it is my goal to become a nurse manager and guess what, It is going to my mission in life to bring customer service back to nursing care. Remember the customer? Yes, the one in the bed, yes, thats right, the patient.

Oh HEEEEEELLLLLL NO!!!!

Lets get one thing straight. My patients are not my customers. I quit my cashier job a long time ago

I (and I'm sure alot of other Nurses) would rather you bring back Nursing! I did not go to school, study my heart out, to smile and ask if the "customer" would care for a latte. I spend to much time already not doing what I was trained to do. Perhaps you would be happier as a manager at the Holiday Inn?

Leslie leslie leslie,

You are awesome :) And very wise....

I am a very pleasant person. I am respectful, I work hard, and I do anything that i am told to do with out question as long as it is legal and in the patients best interest.

You want me to clean up a cdiff eexplosion. No worries, it matters not.

I smile, I am kind and I treat everyone who crosses my path like solid gold.

I do not care how I am treated...but when I see these creatures treating the patients badly, thats where I draw the line.....most of the patients in this hospital are indigent and are too scared to report their poor treatment......

I have seen nurses act horrible to patient's ... so I'm guessing that is what you must have encountered, and I agree THAT SUCKS !!!! There are mean nurses out there and we've all seen them (admit it, everyone). I'm not sure how you old you are Mindlor, or how long you've been in healthcare. I've been in healthcare for over 14 years and am currently in nursing school. I have some some viewpoints of my own. I think some of my classmates don't give the nurses the respect they deserve, and that really does SucK, the nurses that are training the students, are busy, and don't get paid extra to do the training.

On the other hand, as a student, I want to learn. So, I give respect, help and get respect back, usually.

I haven't got paired up with a "burnt out" nurse ... but I've encountered them. I treat them with more respect and try to empathize. Maybe I can brighten their day and they will pass along the cheer. That's all I figure I can do. Management isn't blind .. if they want someone gone ... that's their job. NOt mine. Good luck ~`

this thread has got to be a joke.....

i thought along those same lines also, since op has been a member since 2009.

Wake up folks....

Your patients ARE YOUR CUSTOMERS....

Without you patients you will not have a job.

Patientes have choices in most cities and do not have to go to your hospital.....

I promise you the customer focused model is going to return....

Patients are customers. There is a lot of truth in this post - if you hate your life/job/whatever so much that you make patients cry with your derogatory and insulting words, which I've seen, it is time for you to lose your job.

Return? I promise you, the customer service model has been in place for quite a while and is not working.
