Bitter dried up nurses that need to RETIRE

Published

Title says it all . Second semester baby nurse in clinicals at a major hospital.

Patients = Awesome

Most Nurses = Very sweet and helpful

Some nurses are rude, terse, horrible with patients, horrible with students and horrible with each other.

To those nurses I say this, please retire.

Its only a matter of time before management figures out they can live without you and hire some very hungry and very competent new grads that want to be there to fill your dusty shoes....

word...

sadly the vast majority of the time these happen to also be charge nurses....in charge of what? Misery?

Canesdukegirl, if you read an attack in my response then perhaps you should re-read the posts. I made reference to a comment that SHE posted, which sounds as if she has a problem with things that are being asked of her in her current role as a hospice nurse correct? Which for me segue to another question, if a terminally ill patient asks for a soda, cup of coffee should I have a problem with granting their request?

nope, no problems at workplace.

i am reacting to the mandate from the brass as to how we should act.

i handle my pts just fine, w/o anyone expecting me, ordering me to do so.

and that is a source of resentment...

that we professionals are treated like a herd taking direction from the shepherd.

i'm sure you'll see plenty of resentment once you're on the floor...

but do not assume they need to retire.

many of those who are angry, respect and honor and protect their pts.

and, those who hire newbies...is usually r/t planning on eliminating the older, experienced nurses who cost them top $...

the antithesis of nsg retention.

nsg's value comes in statistics that demonstrate how many pts are dying in what hospital...and why.

it's NOT because we smile on cue...

it has much more to do with how we perform with our sleeves rolled up, versus a popsicle stick up our asses.

what is it that 'corporate america' doesn't get???

that's when i feel totally lost, alone, and hopeless.

students know not of what they speak until they have worked a year on the floor.

that, i can promise you.

so spread your ideals w/o reserve...

because i'm confident that some day, you will be eating them for lunch...IF you can get a lunchbreak.
