So currently I have 3 PRN jobs and 1 part time job at the hospital. One of the PRN jobs I'm going to put my 2 weeks in for various reasons. But a part time job and 2 PRN will still be too much for me. I've only been working at this hospital for 2 1/2 months and I've decided that just tired of beside. The only hospital job that I'm interested in is OR but that's such a hard specialty to get into right now. I told a coworker that I wanted to quit and he said since I'm jumping ship so early they might put me on a do not rehire list. My question is do you think they will do that if I keep it professional and put in my 2 weeks?

It's impossible to say and depends a lot on your manager and HR.  I want to say that certain hospital systems, like HOA, put people on a do not rehire list if they leave within a certain period of time regardless of one's reason for quitting or if you leave on good terms. Other hospitals may ask you about why you left so quickly in a future interview and hire you after considering your reasons and if you are deemed more reliable at that point.

Please clarify. You have 4 jobs.. I cannot figure out which is which and the one you want to leave.

I have 2 correctional PRN jobs, 1 psych PRN job and a part time hospital job. I'm leaving one of the correctional jobs this month so technically it'll be 3 jobs. I would like to leave the part time hospital job. I'm just tired of bedside, my PRN jobs are more money and less stress. Lately when I'm driving to my hospital job I'm dreading it. Even if they put me on a do not hire list I still have many hospitals to choose from in my area and there are other RN jobs that are not hospital based. I just don't like the feeling of burning bridges. At the same time I'm the type of person that'll leave no matter what if I'm unhappy at work.

Part of my reasons is that I'm unhappy in bedside, another reason is that I may be moving over an 1 hr and 15 min away from this hospital. I work  night shift and cannot survive the drive. I will probably leave out the unhappy part and just say the moving part. It's hard to balance all these jobs. Plus I plan on enrolling back to get my BSN and I would like to have somewhat of a life to do things for myself. My PRN jobs are relatively stress free and the psych job I can go part time or full time to get my insurance. I'm tired of working 5 days 12 hour night shifts. I feel bad when the jobs calls me saying they are short staffed and needs someone to cover. They need to hire more people and make sure the job is one that people will want to stay. I'm not going to stretch myself thin anymore.

I don't know  how many hours you are required to work at the part time hospital job,  but  I would hang onto  that one. If you are blacklisted for  leaving so soon, it will not just affect your reputation at that facility, any future job can see that you left after only  2 1/2 months.

You might not be happy with the current job you have at the hospital, but it opens up many future opportunities there.

One PRN psych  job and one PRN correctional job may pay the bills, but where are your benefits coming from?

I was thinking of going full time or part time at the psych facility for benefits. Something just has to give as I'm running myself ragged trying to keep up with all of these jobs. I basically came to my current location with just the move in deposit and 1 full time hospital job so I applied to a couple of prns and got them both around the same time. I was working like crazy because I was sleeping on an air mattress and needed furniture and things for my apartment. Now that I have everything and money saved up I want to relax alittle and not work so many hours. Somehow I managed to double book myself 2 nights next week so somehow I gotta manage to beg one of the jobs to let me off the schedule. And both jobs are severely short staffed and I know they will give me hell for calling out or changing the schedule last minute. I might have to let another PRN job go or just work maybe once or twice a month there even though I enjoy it more.

This has never been the case in my personal experience at any facility I’ve worked at for the last 15 years for a floor/staff nurse, it’s always been 2 weeks. I have seen the 30 days required for management positions though. OP should definitely check what their facility requires.

Yeah, I don't know why some nurses take on so many jobs. I knew a nurse with 5 kids who had a FT job and 3 PRN jobs (or was it 4? I know she had at least four jobs though).

You have to prioritize your health, and if it gets you blacklisted than so be it. But 60 hrs a week at the bedside is not sustainable.

They have to have cause to legally put you on a do not rehire list.

My understanding (and quick search) is the opposite, that do not rehire lists are not governed by any law. Which is partially where issues can come in.
