BEST trauma shears?

Ok, here's the deal.

I was mocked by my new colleagues for having sissy trauma shears the other day. Truthfully, they were good once but have gone so dull that they could barely cut a bubba lady's panties and corset. So where could I order some freakin' macho trauma shears?

I have some awesome Keppra and Invanz trauma shears! Ha ha! The Invanz ones even have a little squishy silicone padding inside the grips.

EmergencyRN beat me to it. I carry regular cheapo trauma shears, and throw them out when they get dull. But I also have a Buck Crosslock knife (one of the early ones) that my dear wife gave me for the skinning blade on it. Outside the hospital I've used it for cutting seatbelts, heavy leather boots, etc. If it'll skin a full grown deer, it'll likely cut off anything you encounter with your patients. A skinning blade or rescue knife is a great tool to have around.

A little late, but these things are the greatest shears I have ever used. CMC Rescue shears. They're manufactured by Acme United. The blades are titanium bonded and very hard to dull or break. The grips are antimicrobial, and they have a soft ribber inner lip for finger comfort. I've heard people say they've dulled shears in one cut. I've cut belts, seat belts, jeans, shirts, and even a gold ring. They're still razor sharp. Trauma shears are awesome! The ones I buy are simply "industrial shears"/utility shears from BigLots or some other cheap store. Best shears I have bought thus far and so cheap ($2 each or less) I can leave them with a pt in the field (work as a volunteer FF) during an MVA, or use them endlessly in the hospital. Either way, cheap and can't go wrong.

These are the best shears and nearly everyone in my ED uses them.

they are made by miltex and would cut a finger off if you wanted to.

Im asked to use a girls scissors once because I left mine somewhere and she said sure but don't leave these anywhere they were expensive". I went along my merry way to cut what I was going to cut and BOY I never thought scissors could be amazing but these sure were! When returning them I asked her what exactly expensive was and she said her mother bought them for her as a gift and they were about $70. I took a mental note of the brand telling myself one day I would search ebay and find myself a pair. My mental note got lost cause I can not for the life of me remember the brand. I remember they were smaller, were coated and thats about it.

My Lister bandage scissors are my trauma shears. They work very well.

http://www.ripshears.com You guys missed the point to my original post. This product would work with any trauma shear, it is an attachment that would go on your shears. Look at the video on there website and still tell me your shears are that fast. It is funny how many comments I got on my post when I tried to put out the word on a great new product, but it appears nobody even bothered to check out the site. When you can cut through an entire wetsuit or a set of clothing to include double knotted boots in less than 30 seconds or take off an Irsraeli dressing thats tight enough to turn a PTs hand purple in less than 1/2 sec you can talk about how good your shears are.

Those rip shears look great, I wanted to see how much they are, but the distributor links on the site state "no item found."
