Exactly- the basics matter! What they taught you in nursing school was the bare minimum of how to not kill your patients. Those basics will ALWAYS be the cornerstone of your nursing practice.

Get to know your team outside of work. You become a little more human.

Always ask if you have a question!! Never do something with out knowing why your doing it. Always advocate for your patients as if they were your family. Be nice to nursing students and help educate them, as they will be our future co-workers and could be taking care of us one day!

Help your CNA's!

Acknowledge and celebrate when you do something awesome, and when others do too! Lift each other up and help each other, because management can't and won't do it for you. We're all in this together.

Never smell the mysterious brown spot that is on your scrubs.

Always have an extra pair of scrubs in case you become covered with Go Litely diarrhea when the patients husband put the bucket in wrong in the bedside commode.
