ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR GUT INSTINCTS

Being yelled by a MD or Surgeon is so worth saving a patient's life!

You don't have to like everyone you work with, but please treat them with respect.

For new grads especially - No one is your friend. Do not share your personal feelings/opinions even if you consider them positive. Keep your mouth shut!

For a quick and inexpensive pick me up- Use noxema as a mini massage to tired and sore nurses feet and calves. It's so refreshing and fast acting!!!

When working lots of hours with little sleep- take tylenol or motrin prior to sleeping to wake up headache free.

Respect everyone's differences. Be kind, understanding and learn everything you can from people.

Learn how to eat fast

Just because a task isn't on the "task list", doesn't mean it doesn't need to be done. Take your eyes off the computer screen and look at your patient. Listen to your patient. Listen to your heart.

we don't work for free never punch out and then complete your charting & invest in great shoes & leave it at the door!!!!

If you are discouraged or overwhelmed as a new nurse, find an older nurse who once was discouraged/overwhelmed too. Share your feelings and ask for advice. Find one who is willing to learn from YOU as well!

(I loved helping young nurses feel good about what they are doing, even in the most frustrating moments!)
