hi dale,

i was just wonderin' if the NVC really requires a police clearance because my agency did not ask me to forward such document ; though when i made an inquiry at the NVC only this June, they said that they have received all my documents and I will be notified as soon as an interview date is available. My PD is June 2004,by the way. Do I have every reason to be worried or should I just pray and wait for my interview schedule? I hope you can give light regarding my inquiry. God Bless!

Ms.Nightingale :)

Normally, a police clearance is required of all that wish to immigrate.

Hi jenic501. I have only completed the requirements for NVC this January 2005. I have submitted the ds230 on november last year but I was told that NVC needs police clearance from the country where I'm at. I too am going for preliminary appointment this monday July 11. When is your preliminary appointment? If I go first, I will keep you informed.

hi bodgie! thank u so much for sharing some details. I will look forward to your updates on your july 11 preliminary appointment. i haven't received any notice yet for a preliminary appointment. by the way, what is your priority date? thanks again and i wish you luck. :)

For my friend who had already got a green card and gone to US. has only submitted her police clearence and medicals only at the time of her consulate interview. This is a case I know directly. I was wondering when somebody saying that u need to send ur Police clearence to NVC. Perhaps it again depends of the Consulate....

Florence of Nightingale?

Ok as i know police clearances are only requested if you worked or were oustside the Philippines (been in another country>>>that is where you will get the clearance) for more than six months...if not NBI clearance will do. If the consulate is in doubt about your character (for example you are married to a guy named Osama Bin Laden) they would ask you to provide a police clearnce or another evidence to clear your name...something like that...

Dale...

For india at least the police certificates are required at the time of visa interview. kid80

But in India... Expecially Chennai Consulate required Police Clearence Certificate regardless of ur category or ur current residence by the time of interview.... And that requirement will come along with Packet 3 I guess....

Nimisha,

Different countries have different rules and consulates have a way in dealing with them. In the Philippines it is called National Bureau of Investigation Clearance to travel abroad.

What Tweety Bird was asking is a different thing. NBI clearance and police certificates are TWO different things here in this country. Check the US Embassy Manila Website.

Check again after July 15, you may have good news. :)

Hi Dhel28!

I have a friend who'll be interviewed on July 28, 2005, I asked her when did she received her appointment letter and she said, she received it first week of June 2005. If we are expecting an interview this August 2005 how come we still have not receive anything from the NVC, the first week of July is about to end? We should be receiving a letter by now or I guess maybe it's not yet my time. I called the NVC tonight, fortunately I've talked to somebody. The NVC can not assure me if I will be interviewed this year. She only said that I am documentarily qualified and told me to wait for a letter. I felt disappointed with her reply. Do you think they are just trying to be careful with their answers? or they just really know what will happen to the applicant's case? To all the people in this forum I need your feedback, please help... My PD is August2004. :crying2: :crying2: :crying2:

NVC specifically requested that I submit a Police Clearance when they reviewed my DS 230 precisely because I was in Saudi Arabia at the time I filed the ds230. And police clearance is required in the interview only if you lived in a country outside the Philippines for more than 1 year after reaching the age of 16, police clearance from that country of course. If you lived in the Philippines since reaching 16 then the embassy will reqest you to present an NBI clearance.

Mine is Nov 03 as so with some here much earlier than mine. We have not receive any. Although in my case, I submitted my packet 3 a few weeks ago. so I am not expecting anything until September, just my guess.

But don't worry, we all have a share of the 50,000 visas. It's just the time of waiting that is unbearable to some. :chuckle

Some NVC agents will give you a safe answer and some of them will give you a more definite one. Please note that they(agents) have guidelines and standard answer when replying to a question and they are being monitored for quality assurance. If they give you a definite answer like, you'll receive your letter in 2 weeks time and it did not happened and you file a complain? what do you think will happen to that agent? for them a safe answer will be the best response because they can never be 100% sure and their job is at stake!!! Have you checked their standard reply when you send them an email inquiry? very safe huh????!!! so do not worry too much, my feeling is all documentarily qualified who has an NVC case number starting MNL2004XXXXX will be interviewed this year, between July - November. Definitely the interview schedule for EX category will somewhat taper down starting Septemebr 1.

As for your friend, NVC schedules interview between the 1st to 2nd week of every month and realease it after that. Its hard to speculate why your friend received the appointment letter first week of June, just be patient and your time will come.
