Hi everyone! I am starting the RN program this coming fall and super excited about it...and a bit nervous!! I had a question and was wondering if any of you could help me out. My question is about getting a NCLEX-RN Review book before the semester starts. I have seen on many threads, that people have mentions that they are good to study from, so I was wondering which books are the good ones? I went to Barnes & Noble yesterday, and felt a bit overwhelmed at how many there were to choose from. Would appreciate some feedback! Thanks so much!!!

Stick with Saunders & Prioritization & delegation by LaCharity. There all you need.
Is that book enough to study from at the end also for the actual NCLEX-RN? Thanks for the tip on the book Wsmith16. Much appreciated!

I liked Saunders--I used it throughout school as well as for the NCLEX (with Kaplan).

I loved Saunders Q&A because the questions were broken down by system. I also used Pearson's Exam Prep. The review materials were great for studying for each test. The questions could not be sorted by topic though.

I use the Saunders book, and my school actually has used some questions from there almost verbatim

Saunders Comprehensive Review by Silvestri is a required book in my program for the next semester, and I keep reading good things about it.

Saunders has done wonders for me.
Today I found a great clinical guide. Its from SparkCharts- Nursing. Its a laminated sheet of assessments, lung sounds, bowel sounds, cranial nerves, 5 common lab values, ABG quick guide, and a few other things.

Saunders is great for content, Kaplan is excellent for learning HOW to take tests and choose the best answer....

During school it's hard to beat Saunders. In fact, before my second year med surg tests I would sometimes do all of the online questions for whatever specialty we were studying. Helped me very much on exams to do that.
La Charity is also very good, but somewhat harder than school tests. Still, I learned tons from it and it helped me to have basically completed that book before starting to study for the NCLEX.
Kaplan is also very helpful for NCLEX, but not so much while you're in school. Still, if you can get a copy of their book you may find it a good review prior to exams and then of course, as you study for NCLEX their program and questions can get you ready for the big day. Again, their instruction on how to look at questions and consider the options will help you in school and on the NCLEX, but I also learned content answering so many of their questions.
Good luck!
