Best men's watch for male nurses

Hey everyone. I'm starting nursing school next month and am looking for a cheap watch that's good for when I'm in the hospital. I've seen people mention military time is useful, plastic bands and water resistant so it can't be thrown in the washing machine if it gets dirty. Anyone out there who is in school or working have any suggestions? Thanks

Go to Kohls. You can get a G Shock for cheap with all the coupons they have. Bought a $150.00 watch for half price. They have Timex too.

This one is nice due to it's no snag smooth lines.

The first time you transfer someone and give them a nice skin tear from your beefy gshock sucks.

I would also recommend something with luminous hands or auto illumination because taking a pulse with one hand and trying to push the light button on your watch is a hassle.

I do believe I found the perfect watch for nursing. It the CASIO Men's MW600F-2AV 10-Year Battery Sport Watch

It sells on amazon for around $15 in multiple colors. The numbers are big enough to see in low light and are Luminescent. It has a date function as well as a yellow second hand which you can see well. It is water resistant up to 330 ft so you can clean it well without worrying. The battery lasts forever and even if something goes wrong with it, it's only $15. Just my 2 cents..

It's not cheap, but the Luminox watches have the best night visibility glow...no need to hit a button for light...no light to time out before you're done. Great for taking pulses in low light. Waterproof (for real, not just for the first month), durable, they look good without having bulky buttons or trendy faces. The problem with cheap things is you end up spending almost as much replacing them ever year or two, so over the five year span, you would have been better off with the quality item. And also better manufacturers are more likely to replace/repair their products without question...while I bargain mart option won't return your emails.

Along the same lines of the luminox, I went with the Seiko 5 sport Monster. They have the same level of brightness as the luminox, but at a much more affordable price (for me at least:).

I like them because, as with the luminox, you get constant and very useable luminance from the watch, which means you don't have to keep hitting a button to light it up. The second hand is also very well illuminated, which makes taking vitals in those low light situations that much easier. Waterproof to 200m and has the adjustable diver's bezel for timing things.

For any new viewers, I recommend the Timex Men's Ironman, especially for the budget shopper. It's only $29 and has worked outstanding for the four months I've had it. It's also water resistant and submersible which is handy. It is more than sufficient... until the iWatch launches, that is. ;)

Specializes in cardiac-telemetry, hospice, ICU.

The problem with many of the watches recommended here is that they have 'knobs' and sharp edges that will catch and carry the nasties. I use a Swatch that has a very smooth bezel and profile with a rubber watch band. The thing is smooth and contoured and doesn't have edges to hold dirt- that's the ticket. Also a sweep second hand is the best for taking a manual pulse

I have that in orange, the Neo Monster, the original Monster is a bit different. Either way, it's a great value, especially for an automatic. The only problem I have with it as a work watch is that it's a tad on the heavy side, and that's coming from someone with a largish wrist. Still, it's a workhorse and a great value, like you said.

The Luminox BO I use got the nod because it's ridiculously lightweight and has a blacked out dial field with lume markers that do not require a light source (tritium gas-filled tubes are used).

The next watch I get for work will have a pulsometer. I know Swatch used to make one, but I'm leaning towards a higher-end tool watch, maybe a Speedmaster with an appropriate bezel or a (drool) Kobold. :woot:

I use a Timex weekender. It's a nylon band but it's only $15.

I like this casio diver watch, they are under 20 on ebay,, has second hand, gmt time,, and if it's not too tight, you can spin the bezel to time a seizure or something..

Its all plastic/rubber so you can wash it easy afters someone vomits on it.

I think I would recommend moto360. Got mine and I'm insane about it. So sleek, durable and multi-functional too!
