Massachusetts NCLEX results
The PVT is NOT accurate. I took the NCLEX on Friday, March 9th. Like many, I wanted to know how I did so I used the PVT trick 3 times after the exam. Each time PVT was more than willing to take my $$ again. I was so angry a myself, embarrassed for failing so badly because my exam ended early on the 85th question, which meant I did horrible. I had to make sure so after 48 hours (required for Quick Results) I paid the $7.95. I am glad I did because staring right in front of me was the word "PASS". I literally jumped up from my chair and had a well deserved Victory freakout.. The dog thought I was nuts, bolted from the room and was weary of me for a few hours after. Since I'm neurotic, I have checked each day since to make sure it still says PASS and it has.. It was an awesome feeling and I hope everyone who has suffered through Nursing school experiences it. To sum it all up.. Using the PVT Trick 3 times, I was shown that I FAILED. So, IMO the PVT is NOT ACCURATE. My humble advice is to wait 48 hours and pay the $8. Quick results ARE 100% Accurate.. Good Luck to All !!!

Pearson Vue NCLEX Exam Trick 2018/Anyone Else?
Hello All, I hope this message reaches those who tried the trick and did NOT GET the results they wanted. I took the NCLEX last week on March 7. My exam had a ton of SABA (select all that apply) questions and my exam ended at 84 questions. I was not comfortable and thought I bombed the exam. I wanted to know if I passed or failed so I tried the Pearson Vue trick 3 times that many have mentioned here and on other sites. ALL 3 times it would allow payment which basically meant that I failed. I was depressed, angry, you know, all the emotions that you go through after exams in Nursing school. OK, without drawing it out anymore I paid the $7.95 for "quick results" on Pearsons site just to know for sure that I had failed.. Guess what? I PASSED!!!!!! I am not here bragging or whatever. I just want people to know that the Pearson/Vue trick is not accurate. The quick results are 100% however so if you don't want to wait 4-6 weeks, spend the $7.95 to make sure. I do not want anyone to feel the way I felt thinking I had failed. Good Luck to all..

Study guide Mary Ann Hogan???
Hello All, I just finished, and completed/graduated from my first year of ADN school. I knew going in that it was going to be difficult, but I was not prepared for everything that we were responsible for like the volume of readings, and also having to complete a TON of paperwork for clinical. I am just glad I completed all of my pre req's (and also many classes that will count towards my BS) b4 entering the program. Well, live and learn. OK, here is my question. My class is starting this fall with cardiac. We have an exam the first week back on cardiac medications, interventions, diagnosis, etc... Is anyone familiar with Mary Ann Hogan's study guides and were they helpful? Money is very tight at the moment and I have to spend it wisely. I do not want to waste money on a bunch of different study guides, aids, etc.. I have heard that her books are helpful. Does anyone have an opinion on what is the best cardiac study guide or an opinion on Mary Ann Hogans books specifically? If so please respond and let me know. I appreciate the information on this site because it is a community of health care professionals/students who have been there, done that. Thanks to all who respond, I do appreciate your time. KG

A quick question regarding ADN programs
I'm just starting our ADN program this fall. We do not have to take summer classes. It a 2 year traditional Sept-Dec, winter break, Jan-May program. Many students work on their BSN transfer classes in the summer though. Good Luck in your studies..

Best men's watch for male nurses
I do believe I found the perfect watch for nursing. It the CASIO Men's MW600F-2AV 10-Year Battery Sport Watch It sells on amazon for around $15 in multiple colors. The numbers are big enough to see in low light and are Luminescent. It has a date function as well as a yellow second hand which you can see well. It is water resistant up to 330 ft so you can clean it well without worrying. The battery lasts forever and even if something goes wrong with it, it's only $15. Just my 2 cents..

Options for scrub pants
Anyone know where I can find 2 Pocket V-Neck scrub tops? Everything I am finding is one pocket, 3 pocket, etc... I have no idea why my school requires 2 pocket V-neck only in Ceil Blue. Our mandatory meeting is at the end of next week and our school uniform supplier is going to be there. I was told that they are more expensive than online options though. Every dollar counts. especially with $250 plus books to be bought soon. Thanks

Just got my acceptance letter!
Congrats Alex, It's not a small feat getting into any Nursing school. I think it bodes well for you that you are a little nervous. That tells me you know it is going to be difficult and will take it seriously. I have gotten accepted also for the fall. Same as you, I am also nervous and very excited to get on the road so to speak. Good Luck in your studies.

Engraving on a Stethoscope
That is a great point that I have not thought of. I knew that once engraved they were non returnable but did not know it effect's the performance warranty. It is something to think about. I only asked because I keep reading that stethoscopes tend to wander off and I just wanted something different than the others. Thank You for the information.

Being a male increase your chances
All I know is I busted my A** to get into a very competitive program. I cannot speak for others but the only thing that mattered in my school were grades. I do not know one person in the whole application process. While doing my pre req's I was told by my adviser to keep my grades up (especially science classes) because that is all that they look at. I was told that there were over 300 transfer applicants as well as those who applied from our school. They only accepted 56 students. maybe I am being naive but I never once got the impression that being male gave me any type of advantage at all.

Engraving on a Stethoscope
Hello All, Does anyone know of a company that will engrave a Flag on a Littmann Stethoscope. I know Medisave offers free engraving on all Littmann scopes but I am looking for a simple Greek flag or a different symbol other than what they have as options on their website. I appreciate any input or opinions. Thanks

Career change
I am 47 now and am a point in my life where I am able to pursue a Nursing degree. It has been a goal of mine since I was young but I got married, had kids, needed insurance so I did what I could to keep all our heads above water. I started going back to school in Sept of 2012 and chipped away. Currently, I have finished all of my pre req's and have been accepted into the ADN program here for September. I also took, while waiting to get into the RN program, all the classes that will count towards a BSN at Umass which is affiliated with my school. If by some miracle I make it through RN school I will only need a year of classes after that to get my BSN. My advice is to get whatever you can get done as far as pre req's and other classes towards a BSN out of the way early, or before starting RN school. That will give you an idea early if this is for you and also open your eyes to what your in for and what you like and dislike. I found out by taken gen ed classes that I really enjoy history and psychology. My original goal was to become a travel nurse but Psychology really interests me so maybe ( if I pass RN school mind you) I'll look into being a Psych nurse. Who knows. It is never to late to do what you like and believe in. If I help one person it will all have been worth it to me. It sound soupy I know, but I do mean it.. Go for it!! Start and do not look back. It will be a fun but difficult ride, but I am hoping worth it..

In my late 40's, is it worth it to go back to school to become an RN?
Go for it!!!! Seriously, how many times have you said you would like to go back to school in the past 15 years? Do something for yourself for once and sign up for any class just to get the ball rolling. You will be surprised how much you enjoy school. I am 47 and have just got accepted to the ADN program at BCC. What I did, and what I would recommend is getting your pre req's out of the way before applying for an ADN program. I did exactly that and also took classes that will count toward my BSN at UMass while waiting. It really is never to late.. I am an older student but you will be surprised at how many people our age are in school. After doing knuckle dragging jobs up to this point I am lucky to just concentrate on school right now. My kids are older and understand the time commitment it will take for me. My advice is start with a couple of pre-req classes (A&P or Chem, I loathed Chem and my instructor but got through it). That way you will get a feel for what your in for. Then get your ducks in a row during your time leading into an ADN program and dive right in. I can't speak for others and I know it sounds mushy but I truly want to help people. If I can help one person it would all have been worth it.. I have not done anything yet though and still have to get through school and the NCLEX.. Good Luck to You!!!
