Baptist College Of Health Sciences

I JUST GOT ACCEPTED TO BAPTIST AND WILL BE STARTING THIS FALL. I AM SO EXCITED. I WAS WANTING TO KNOW IF ANYONE COULD TELL ME WHAT TO EXPECT AT ORIENTATION AND ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES AT THE SCHOOL.

How are things going for you all? I'm still debating whether or not to apply to Baptist in the Spring. I already have a B.A. and a M.S. and I'm taking a A & P at SWCC. Are you able to work and do the program? I'll do night and weekend if I go to Baptist, but I'm also considering UT's new direct entry master's program.

Well, I worked before I decided to get into NS and will try to continue working even while i'm in NS. I understand that I will have to slack up on hours once I start clinicals, which I don't start until Fall 09. I look forward to that more than anything I have in a long time.

I did the same thing you did MemphisTiger; I went to STCC and took as many prereq's and general studies as I could, then took the NLN for STCC and the HOBET for Baptist. I was accepted to STCC and Baptist's Nursing programs, but decided to get my BS instead of my AAS.

At times I have regretted my decision, but not often. lol

I feel that Baptist is the school I want to attend, there is a better instructor/student ratio. I like the smaller class size it allows for better learning, and you can form some pretty good friendships here as well. :yeah:

So I took my first exam last week, I made a 94.5.. I was so upset because anywhere else that would have been an A..

Oh gosh! What is an A then?

Thanks for the info. I think I'll go ahead and apply for the Spring. One thing about STCC I hate is that they don't do student loans and I hate having to pay out of pocket.

LMBO....that's the same thing I said about STCC and the student loans. STCC is all grant and income based. When I first applied I was eligible for grants, but once I went full time on the job, that was no longer applicable.

An A is 95-100%

dang! all the classes i'm taking are on the 10-point scale.

Ok, I Am So Tired Of People Bashing Baptist!! Just Because It Isn't A Big University Doesn't Mean Baptist Doesn't Produce Good Quality Nurses!!! We Are The Best There Is!!! I Am Happy About My Decision Of Going To Baptist. I Was One Of Those Who Was Skeptical About Attending Baptist Because I Didn't Know Anything About It. But I Wish I Had Known About It From The Jump. Probably Would Have Been Graduating On Time!!

I didn't realize anyone was bashing Baptist...

I just did my application for the Spring. In hindsight, I wish I had just applied in the summer so I wouldn't have had to pay out of pocket for A&P 1 at STCC. I'm also nervous that we're covering different stuff in my A&P 1 class and if/when I take A&P 2 at Baptist I'll be lost. I have an A now though in my class. What book do you all use for A&P 2 at Baptist?

An A depends on the class, the professor, and which scale they use. However, in the nursing courses an A=91, B=85, C=77, and anything less than a 77 is failing. Again an A in gen. ed. classes vary. I believe that the gen. ed. classes should have the same grading scale because the way that it is done now is very confusing.

Did any of you study for the HOBET? I'm taking it next week. Not sure if I should study for it or not... I already have a B.A. and a M.S. and don't think it can be that hard, can it?
