I JUST GOT ACCEPTED TO BAPTIST AND WILL BE STARTING THIS FALL. I AM SO EXCITED. I WAS WANTING TO KNOW IF ANYONE COULD TELL ME WHAT TO EXPECT AT ORIENTATION AND ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES AT THE SCHOOL.

So how does everyone feel after their first class? I'm in for a busy semester, but I won't really have a good feel until after next week. I won't get to go to 3 of my classes until Mon and Tues. Hope everyone is geared up! I am excited and a little nervous! Good Luck!

a and p...wow. yeah, lots of information. the others are great. a and p is great, too, just lots of information to take in. don't know if i'll have the time to work this trimester.

is anyone working and taking more than 12 hours??? if so, where are you working?

also, i'm just going to call something out as i see it. i'm tired of hearing about strengths!!!! "my strengths are this this and this. well, mine are this this and this..." who cares?! sorry.

HBGWAN!! I couldn't agree more!!! I am tired of hearing about strengths!!!! WHO CARESSSSS!!!!! I liked it better when people read their horoscopes :)!! lol Anyway, my first day was yesterday. It wasn't bad at all. Instructors all seem so joyful!! Maybe it's a front.. Classes don't seem lik they will be to hard, but the classes so far will require a lot work. So next Tuesday b/c I have to online courses I will be at school from 11:30 til 8 pm; that's only if my last instructor keeps us the entire time. Which I am sure he will. HBGWAN, I am working this semester, but only on Mon, Wed, and Fri. I work in at NBT Passport.

I thought I wasn't going to like Baptist because it was a smaller college than the previous colleges I attended, but it is where I should have been all along. I love it that the school is so career focused and that they are willing to help you by any means necessary. I hope that God blesses you all with a great trimester and trimesters to come. Keep us updated on how school is going...

I'm taking 12 hours this trimester and still work a 40+ hour a week job. I work in a local hospital, that's all I will say. lol

But I might have to drop one of my classes this trimester due to me missing the first day of my online class because I was in court and missed the class.

Baptist is a great school, it's not as impersonal as many of the larger universities and colleges with hundreds of students to a class. There is a greater focus on student/teacher relationship which is a valuable assessment in an endeavor such as nursing school.

I loved A & P, but I took it at Southwest, but from one of Baptist's instructors. lol:rolleyes:

wow...we've all pretty much stopped posting. you can definitely tell that the school year has started because the posts are getting fewer and far between. how is everyone's semester (excuse me - trimester) going?

My trimester is going good so far.

Maybe it was meant for me to drop that class this trimester. You know they say..."God takes care of fools and children" and i've definitely been a fool, lmao. :D

It allows me more time to study and rest. And to focus more on the classes that I do have instead of trying to to do so many things all at once.

I've got alot going on, as usual, in my personal life that I am trying to get straightened out. I have a pending move in a few weeks, meaning I gotta pack up the whole house!:icon_roll I have an ungrateful teenager that I am about to send back to her mother, I can no longer deal with outbursts, animosity and rude disrespectful behavior.

I hope everyone else is having a good trimester as well!:yeah:

Keep us posted!:typing

Hbgwan, school has started. I am loaded with tons of stuff to read. Mr. World Religions, can't say his name, is keeping us busy. I love Baptist!! Even though I am still upset about when I will start clinicals. They really are there to help. I hope everyone has a great trimester. ANYONE TAKING WORLDS RELIGIONS??

Specializes in Med-Surg Pulmonary.

hey yall!! i'm taking 13hrs and working about 24hrs a week. i will see how this works, but school is definitely first. when do yall start clinicals? i start in jan.09 excited about that!!:yeah:

i think i know what ap instructor you're referring too! lol, yeah the class is sweet! :D

word of advice....don't listen to all the hype and negativity from others:no:. seriously, everybody doesn't have the same experience. i :heartbeat baptist and the faculty and staff. these people really care for you and your education and i'm glad i chose this school. wouldn't change anything about it....except it would be nice if we could have like a 'real' cafeteria, with a meal plan. idk...wishful thinkin:cool: but we are remodeling, cool. what yall think about that?

Well my first trimester at Baptist I took 13 credit hours and worked 36+ hours as week, with a troublesome teenager in the house with me. So I feel your pain. I'm down to 9 credit hours this trimester because I had to drop a class, but i'm working 40+ hours as week.

One thing you guys should know. Baptist policy on attending online classes: For whatever reason DO NOT miss the first day of class! I missed because I had to be in court and by the time I was released it was too late to go to class and I was told that I would have to drop the class because I missed the first day of the online class. I asked someone in Administration and was told this was the correct policy.

But in hindsight I think this is a God-send. lol

This gives me more time to rest, study and focus on the courses that I do have this trimester. And i'm not burning the candle at both ends either. I was getting so....:zzzzz, all the time.

Transgender working 40 hours is a lot but if you manage your time wisely, you can do it. Dropping that class was a blessing. I am taking 11 hours and working 24 hours a week. I am overwhelmed right now because I am taking Health Assessment and Microbiology and they both have a lab. I feel as though I have been buried under a rock with books since Sept 10. But I love the school and today I am exhaling because I took my first exam in health assessment. I have my first exam in Micro on Tuesday. I have been so busy that I have not been on in a while.

40 hours is alot!! I am taking 13 hours and it feels like I'm taking 20!! I am managing very well. Trans, can tell you that I do stress over my work b/c I have whined about through im's. School has never consumed this much of my time before but surprisingly I'm loving it. I am getting what I pay for. I was interested in joining some organizations, but i'm none spark my interest. Because I am an only child, and have been so sheltered most of my life I am interested in joining a sorority. NONE AT BAPTIST!!! Probably wouldn't have time for the process. Does anyone why there aren't any sororities at BAPTIST.
