Banner Nurse Fellows Program

Published

I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?

I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!

Kelli,

Don't you have to do a peds rotation @ Cardon during block 3 or 4? I know some of our class is at Thunderbird as well.

I just finished my first round at LTC this week. OMG it was so interesting and a great start as well. We have 5 weeks off then I go to Good Sam for a couple weeks. We still haven't met our instructor or have any info on where to meet her once we start back. :?

I can't believe it but I have an 'A' too. I have been busting my butt to really keep up on my studies and KNOW this stuff! we are about 1/2 through block 1 and I'm keeping my head above water. :D

Have a great holiday and I'll peek in again soon!

I am not to sure if we have to go to that peds hospital or not. Probably but if I could just stay at Banner Estrella for all of the other rotations I would be happy. I am pretty sure they are going to make us rotate between the three hospitals and then maybe peds at Cardon. Where did you do LTC? We aren't always told everything it just comes to us in waves LOL. Organization would be a good thing  but I dont see it happening. Well glad that everything is going so well for you the tests are a big stressor for me but I always do well so that is all I can ask for.

Kelli:

Use your Saunders N-CLEX book for some of your test review just to prep for the exams of course all of the CDs in the books and such as well. I have discovered that MANY of the questions come from the resources provided. They usually aren't word for word but you get the idea.

Hi!

Just a quick question, since most of you all are in the Banner program, I was wondering what the difference in the cohorts with people who have a bachelors and people who do not. I am graduating in May with my bachelors in sociology, and I wanted to start the Banner program that March (before graduation) or that following July (2011). I was just interested to know what the differences were within the programs and/or interview process. Thank you!

As I understand the "process" is the same. I am not sure what or if there are any program differences. We are pinned at the same time as the Banner group who does not have a BS (I think we finish a few weeks ahead of them.) Our adviser says that our group seems to bring many more experiences and a "unique view" to critical thinking which makes them more critical of how they word questions for exams. ;)

Good luck.

I'd like to start a new direction, I would like to hear from all those who are applying for the July cohort and how they are preparing for the possible interviews. I just retook my Net and improved my scores by 30pts so Now I am only worried about the essay part. My GPAis pretty good. 3.5-3.8 I am wondering how competitive it will be for th upcoming cohort. Any thoughts!:D

On the placement whiteboard, it shows 60 slots in total for summer/fall 2010 for Banner Fellows, 30 part time spots, and 30 what I assume to be the accelerated program. Both are at Gateway.

GWBFBanner Fellow (GW) In_List30

GWBFPTBanner Fellow (GW) In_List30

Does this mean this would be for the July cohort or the October cohort? Or one for each?

Is the part time program the program dedicated to those who have earned their bachelors? Does anyone know?

I will be attending the info session at Gateway on March 23rd, I can update those who can't attend.

Anyone know specifically what Banner's looking for on HESI test results, and what the interview is like? Im getting ready to apply and want to be prepared as possible!

Any thoughts?

cscanlon:

skim through the posts around pages 30ish there is a list of the interview questions which consist of the Banner Health mission statement broken down. You then need to explain how in your life professional or personal have exemplified those traits. Good luck!

As far as I know, I don't think anyone knows yet what they would look for on the HESI being that the NET test was what 95% of us who are finished with our pre-reqs were required to take. Pretty sure the HESI was only implemented to replace the Net fairly recently.

OCD Mom,

Thank you! That page was very helpful!

Kf az82,

I took the net and wanted to better my score before applying for the july cohort but I guess within the last two months theyve implemented the hesi..so now I have to take that! haha Im wondering how much harder it is, seeing as its not timed like the net test was...thank you for your imput!

Those of you who have applied, or are applying, I'm turning in my application tomorrow for the July cohort. All you need is the application, HESI or NET scores, unofficial transcript, and essay questions correct? Just want to make sure ive got everything!
