I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?
I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!
kf az82,
I know if you log onto your evolve account you can retrieve your critical thinking score from there, so Im wondering if they want us to get it from there and attach it with the results we were given right after the test...bahh its all so stressful! I e-mailed about the critical thinking score not being on the results paper given to us so well see what they say. Applications are due on the 2nd right? I wonder when we can plan on hearing from them about interviews...
Thanks cscanlon... I have logged into my evolve account but my exam hasn't been posted yet. But that's what I will do, attach it to my scores. Yes, they are due April 2nd. They told us at the meeting Mid-April to Late May they would be doing pre-screen, interviews, and selection. I would imagine they would start interviews after April 16th once they have everyone's apps in. Though, they were very adamant about having your app in by April 2nd, and only later if ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.
June 11th is the date for those accepted to sign all of their Banner documents...
Good to know! Hopefully they'll ask me for my critical thinking scores instead of just throwing my application aside lol. I'm going to the April info session though just in case they deside not to look at my app because of the missing critical thinking scores. Oh well I guess all I can do is wait :/
I am just reading about the new application for the Banner program. I attended the December session and had no idea of any changes and handed in my application on Friday. I am planning on attending the April session on the 15th, so I can resubmit by the 16th if needed. I am also very concerned because we were told that it was OK to type the essay's and attach them, but from reading previous posts I see that this is a no-no. I kept them very short and they were no more than a page for all four questions... I am very worried that this is a major mistake I am hoping that someone can also tell me what the new essay question consists of??
From what I can gather from different posts, the only changes are to the application process and not the program. The application that I completed, had 4 short essay type questions you had to answer and the new application has 1 question that you need to answer in 300 words or less... All other criteria seems to be the same. Can you shed any light on my attaching the questions on a separate piece of paper? Was this a huge mistake? Congratulations on almost completing the program!!!
You should be fine as far as typing and attaching the page. I did that. As long as you didn't get too wordy. They just don't want to have to read pages and pages of rambling answers. As far as the change to 1 question, I have no idea. Does the 1 question sum up the previous 4 or is it completely different?
wuwei,
I as well turned my application in with the old application, and typed and attached the four essay questions. i remember her saying that it was ok to type them at the dec. info session. Im going to attend the April 15th info session as well, but Im curious as to if we are allowed to submit another application for the same cohort; do you know? Or does anyone else know? I know theyre not all due until the 16th, but has anyone heard anything? Just getting anxious lol
I started a new thread a while back entitled March Banner Fellow's info session and asked if anyone who was attending would post any new changes as I was unable to attend. I attended the December session and turned in the old application in February, from the December meeting I had no clue there were changes. The responses back from that meeting were that the application has changed, but also that there would only be 3 cohorts of 30 people each and they would only be held at Gateway from now on. I hope I was reading it right. The July cohort will be at Gateway only and only part time. The other two are in October and March and are accelerated meaning 16 months.
Hope this helps.
I turned in the old application with typed answers attached as well. I have seen the new application. It is essentially the same, with two exceptions. One is that there is now one essay question, limited to 300 words (which is quite short). I can't recall the exact wording, but essentially why did you choose nursing and what are your goals with respect to nursing. Also, the new application specifies the criteria they apply for what minimum scores they will accept for HESI and NET scores. I don't think they will accept two applications for the same cohort. You should be fine with having turned in the old application.
So I just read that Banner is canceling the rest of the scheduled information sessions, and youre not longer required to attend an information session in order to apply. Does anyone know where we get the applications for the program if we want to apply for another cohort? I cant find it anywhere on the program website :/

I noticed as well, the critical thinking scores are not included on the HESI A2 assessment. In the March meeting, they said a large emphasis would be placed on the critical thinking section....How then, would we show our critical thinking scores?
