Banner Nurse Fellows Program

Published

I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?

I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!

cscanlon,

Did you attend the meeting today? You have to turn in the application you received from the meeting today as it have been revised and previous applications will not be accepted. Also the essay questions are now being replaced by one single essay 300 words or less. Just wanted to make sure you didn't go through all the trouble if you weren't able to come to the meeting.

Hi I was unable to attend today and wanted to know if anything was said for those of us who have already turned in our applications for the July cohort. I attended the December 09 session and turned my application in February.

Thank you

I attended the dec. 09 information session so Im wondering if that applies to us. I guess ill find out tomorrow when I go to turn it in. If it does I hope they just give me the revised application! Did they say anything about those who went to previous information sessions and have the old application?

Hi cscanlon did you ever get to turn in your application for Banner? If so, any insight as to what they are doing with those already in?

Crystal74,

Yes I turned my application in on Wednesday. I asked the lady at the front desk if she knew anything about the revised application and she said no, but she saw my application and said that this is the copy that everyone else has been turning in..I guess we will see next week! Hopefully all goes well and we get called for interviews :)

HI cscanlon,

Thank you for your response, like you said hopefully we will hear something soon:)

Crystal, did you ever hear anything back from the calls you made? I have left phone and e-mail inquiries to several of the Maricopa and Banner individuals from prior information sessions and have not heard back from a single person. Its kind of disheartening, especially with so much riding on whether the correct forms are turned in.

hi newbeginning,

funny you should ask that question:) just sat down and decided to read my email first and banner did email me back. i hope this information helps everyone. this is the copied email i got directly from banner:

sorry we've been playing phone tag. you're application from dec 09 will be fine. we're accepting the old and new ones because tons of you guys had turned in the application before our march session. we will be imposing the new requirements on all applicants (and i'll tell you what they are, but they really aren't new...we were always applying these rules to apps in the past, but now we're just telling students so they can avoid applying if they have no chance of getting in). here are the new requirements:

* minimum gpa of 3.0

* minimum net scores: overall - 70; reading - 70; critical thinking - 60 (average the three areas); and math - 70.

let me know if you have any other questions

hope this helps.

Crystal74,

Thanks for posting that! I had also emailed them to make sure they were accepting HESI scores and they said they were so that's a good piece of information to know. Now let's all keep our fingers crossed that we will hear something!! Gahh my nerves are at me already!

The scores they will take for the HESI:

Math:80+

Reading Composite: 80+

Critical Thinking: 600+

Is the HESI similar to the NET? Someone else posted that they were told at the March informational session that Banner would still be accepting applications for July up until April 16th. If that is the case I think maybe I should and try to get a better score on the HESI than I did on the NET:uhoh3:

I thought the HESI was easier than the NET. It's not timed so there's not that added stress. I improved my scores 25 points in each section taking the HESI. I took the critical thinking portion but it wasn't posted on my test results because we weren't required to take it so I hope I don't not get called because of that..
