Banner Nurse Fellows Program

I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?

I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!

Thank you so much for posting & clarifying the point system they use for the acceptance process. I thought I was doing pretty good - but I will definitely need to retake the NET again and focus on the reading comp portion - otherwise, I won't have a fair chance at all~!

Hello everyone,

I am new to this site and have read alot of info, but does anyone know how soon after the Oct 16, 2009 application deadline we should hear about whether we have been granted an interview?

I am taking a quick and I do mean quick second to say that I am extremely exhausted LOL. When they say that nursing students are overwelmed they aren't kidding. I am in my first week and I feel like all I do is eat, drink and sleep nursing. But on the good side I love what we are learning and it is very interesting to me. My nursing lab is awesome and really helps you learn the chapters. This is going to be a crazy ride :).

I'm Hanging in there. Yeah our ride has been CRAZY reading until my feel like they are bleeding. We have an Exam tomorrow and another on Wednesday, I am trying my hardest to keep my head above water here. Hopefully now that Halloween is over & I have no responsibilities for Thanksgiving this year I can really buckle down and pound all ofthis good stuff into the permanent residence in my head. I am brand new to this site also so welcome!! I too applied for the March 2010 cohort and had my interview today!! They told me that they would have selections by November 20, 2009....so hopefully you will hear from them soon. Good Luck!!

Liz, how did they contact you? I was hoping whether or not we would get an interview they would contact by letter or something. So were not left to wonder.

I believe they will contact everyone who applied by email on the 20th, whether you were granted an interview or not they will let you know the staus. Don't give you hope.

Well first test down and many more to go LOL. I did better on the first test than I expected so I am very happy. I missed one on the math test so I have to take it again next week. If we dont get 100 on the first test then we have two more tries to get 100. I know I will get 100 this next time, I hope. It is very exciting so far but I feel like I need more hours in the day. How is everyone over at gateway doing?

I think we are all doing well. We are wrapping our preclinical lab this week and start clinicals on Dec.2, some of us got to meet our clinical instructors yesterday (I am really excited with the one I am with in Long Term Care!!!) We take several exams throughout the process (last week we had 3) I believe we have had 7-8 Exams so far (that includes our Med Pass Practicum.) I can't believe we are already finished with our first month, it is going so fast!

Does anyone know when the deadline is for applications for Estrella Mountain? When does the EMCC cohort start?

I dont think that another Banner Nurse Fellows program starts at EMCC until next October. I know that gateway starts in March. I think the deadline for that was Oct. I am at EMCC in the Banner Program and we just started this past Oct. so I dont believe that they start again until next Oct.You could always call EMCC and double check. But I am pretty sure that March would be gateway and MCC and then in July would be Gateway and GCC and then October would be Gateway and EMCC.

How excting to be starting clinicals, we are preparing now. We will have break and then come back and a few weeks later we start out clinicals. It is funny that you just met your clinical instructors we have been with ours since the beginning and they are all wonderful. They come to our lab classes every Mon and Tues. I am so happy to be starting off my clinicals at Banner Estrella and I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get to stay there. We probably will have to rotate between the three hospitals Good Sam, Thunderbird and Estrella but that will be ok too. Good Luck with your clinical days :)---Kelli
