I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?
I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!
Nope. Nothing yet! I'm sure they are inundated by applications though. I hate this nervous anxious feeling! I do wonder though if everyone who applied realizes that the July cohort is a 24 month part time program (2 nights per week 5:30-9:30) with what I can presume will be 12 hour clinicals on Saturdays. With only one cohort running in July, that just makes it even more competitive! Someone please post an update if they hear anything at all. Good luck to everyone.
Hello....I just graduated from a BNF program. I heard from a reliable source that one of the MAIN contact persons for this program no longer works for them. The reliable source is a friend of mine, but I am not sure who he heard it from and don't know the reliability of that source. So that could be why it is taking so long for you guys to hear. Good luck.
Thanks for that update PHXGIRL! Congrats on just graduating :)
kf az82, With there being only 30 spots now, its bound to get really competitive..making me even more nervous!! Id rather be doing the 16mo accelerated program, but I'm in no position to get picky so I'll take July if I get in..if not I'll for sure apply for October. I just hope they don't cancel the program, or put it on hiatus because of lack of jobs right now :/ Thanks for your input though..youre right Im sure theyre swamped right now..lol it makes me feel better than Im not the only one on pins and nails right now though! haha :)
Cscanlon,
At the meeting in March there was well over 150+ people there. Combined with people who had submitted their apps in the months prior, that is some serious competition! A lot of people at the meeting seem surprised this wasn't the traditional 16 mo accelerated program, that's why I say that. I think at this point though, flexibility is a good thing! This cohort is ideal for anyone who works a traditional weekday 8-5 job, something they also mentioned at the meeting. For some reason, 50 interviews for 30 slots sticks out in my mind. They did say anyone who passed pre-screen would be considered for an interview, but if 100 people pass, the process gets even more selective... I hope they don't do away with the program either, that would be unfortunate.
Yes, There were people standing up, sitting on the floor, packed like sardines by the door ect. A lot of people were asking questions about the October cohort though too so I can't imagine all of them submitted apps for July. The July program might not be feasible for everyone though. Did you take the NET or the HESI? They said the critical thinking scores would be THE most important factor...
I would imagine they extended the deadline since they cancelled the Jan and Feb sessions. I'm sure the influx of people was probably due to that factor. The meeting was March 23rd, with an April 2nd deadline only a week later I'm sure they figured it was only fair to allow everyone the opportunity to gather their information, retake tests if needed and write essays.
LOL packed like sardines by the door i like that hahahaha. Yea I took the NET almost a year ago with the mentality that I just wanted to pass it and apply (after taking bio 202 I was done with school for the year lol) so I passed, but I definately could have done better. So I recently took the HESI to better my chances of getting in..I think I did pretty good (92 in math, 93 in reading). The lady told me the only portions I had to take were math and reading, nothing else..but I was bored and just took the critical thinking portion for fun (good thing I did!) and I got an 830..not great but I think someone said they wanted at least a 600? When I got my score sheet though it didnt have my critical thinking score on there, so I submitted it not knowing they wanted it..now im wondering if theyll ask me about it, or just shove my app. aside since its not on the sheet. What about you? Did you take the HESI or just the NET?
man im typing a lot..lol sorry youve gotta read my rambling...
cscanlon, I wondered about the extension as well. It created a tight timeline to process all those apps, schedule interviews then process contracts. I certainly hope I get an interview and accepted into the program. I really like Good Sam and the evening program fits my schedule/life Perfectly! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of us.

From what it looks like from their website, all we can do is wait and check back. I'm willing to bet they will have it available and ready to download there. They still haven't done much updating to their website, so I guess we just have to wait and see.
