Banner Nurse Fellows Program

Published

I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?

I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!

Currently classes are being held at Estrella, Gateway and Mesa Community Colleges. As for clinicals they will be at Banner hospitals (anyone one of them.) Their children's program is in Mesa so they told me to expect to go there but since I am going to the Gateway Campus so they will try to get most of them done at a hospital in close proximity; so I am guessing Good Sam will be their first try.

Anyone in the Oct Cohort at EMCC want to meet up? I would like to get together soon to meet some people before class starts so at least we will know a few familar faces. Let me know. :hrnsmlys:

I would be interested in meeting before we start. WE just need to pick a time and place. Can't wait to get started!!!:yeah:

Has anyone in the Oct Gateway program received their info and welcome packet yet?? I'm going nuts waiting for it to come.

Hello, I am in the October Cohort for EMCC... So excited!! A little nervous too. Im out of town now but would love to meet for lunch or something. They said that there would be an orientation in October, but never gave date, time or location...did they? did I miss it?

The paperwork Banner sent us stated that they would see us on October 22nd at orientation. I talked to the corrdinator this week and she said we should be hearing from the school with info soon!

Has anyone in the Oct Gateway program received their info and welcome packet yet?? I'm going nuts waiting for it to come.

Our orientation is October 12 and I believe our packets were going to be sent out after Labor Day so I would say by the mid of next week we should probably have more info....See you then :)

I recently found out I had been accepted to the BNFP for October 2009 at GWCC. I am aware of two other gals in the cohort and wonder if anyone else from the cohort wanted to set up a meet and greet in the coming week of September 13-19th.

Getting a Banner Interview...

I also have a bit of information for those of you attempting to figure out how the applications are evaluated. It is a point system in which points are granted for each item. The NET Test is worth a total of 8 points...they look at your math...and reading...give points for predicting outcomes and composite score. I received a 93 on math and a 79 on reading and was granted all 8 points for my NET. YOUR GPA is worth 2 points...3.0- above = 2 points... 2.25- 3.0 =1 point.. Then the essays are weighted as well. This is earsay, but I heard that the final essay question on experience carries a decent amount of weight.

So you can see that GPA is less of a concern that your ability to test and express yourselves in essay form. So,focus on those areas versus re-taking classes. Hope this helps!

Has anyone heard whether or not they have finalized the list of 30 for the octoberGWCC 09 co-hort? I get the feeling they will not mail our packets until they have finalized the list.

**I would love to try to meet up but it depends on childcare and time issues. Let me know what you all plan and I will try to arrange my schedule. ;)

** I just checked my placement status on the Maricopa Nursing Website and I have not been placed yet...so I will guess that they haven't finalized the list OR it just hasn't been entered into the system yet.

Rachelnurtritionnut-

When you say you just recently found out you were accepted does that mean you were one of the later interviewees after they already accepted most of the people? Just because I am wondering if they have told the people who had late interviews if they got in yet or not. Thanks.

When is good for you? I am available just about any time.

Hi Rachel...

Thanks for the info regarding the interview criteria. I am a bit confused though. I read in other posts that they are looking at your total score when it comes to the NET Test, not just your Math, Reading and Composite. Do you have any more information about that?I got an overall of 953, but my predicting outcome subscore was pretty bad...

Any additional feedback is greatly appreciated.

Congrats on getting in!

Hi.American Chai. I wondered if you would recognize my handle. I look forward to meeting on Monday to study a bit.
