I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?
I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!
Hi Rachel...
Thank you so much for responding back to me. Actually I am getting ready to apply for the March 2010 cohort. I do not have a BA or BS but they do have 2 cohorts each time, one for students with a previous degree and one for the rest of us...
Regarding the scores, the 953 refers to the total score, listed in the lower right corner of the page, my composite score that is made up of Math and Reading is only a 79. I do have time to retake the test once more before the application deadline, but I just don't know if I want to go through that again...lol..
I am not worried about the essays...just not sure how much weight that darn NET test carries. My GPA is a 4.0.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your feedback.
Have a great weekend!
patiently waiting 08-
remember they base an interview on a point system. i'm not sure what point total garners an interview, but i do know that you will get 2 points for your high gpa...though i think they just look at your math and science gpa.
the net is out of 8 points, so worst case scenario you probably will get 6/8 or so. i think that a 25 dollar and 2 hours may be worth a retake if you find out you should. it is a quick way to gain points for the interview.
your total points were higher than mine. i was a 893; though remember that total is just part of the scoring. if i were to retake it, i would study the predicting outcomes section of my book and up that score.
i would also gain some practical experience working with the public and getting some health care experience. another banner fellow student i know volunteered a year in the er at good sam. she has very little work experience but she put in the time to get familiar with a hospital setting, so she has a better idea what she is in for.
if you do not get selected for and interview, you can and should call them to get feedback. i hear they are very forthcoming with how you can improve your application. best wishes-
i interviewed on august 31st and was emailied as acceptance letter by the evening of septemeber 2nd. i know one other gal who interviewed the same day and she got in as well. i have no idea whether we were the last two or if interviews are continuing. fyi i am attending the gateway program.

AZ GIRL13--I had a late interview and my date for the interview was August 31. I found out I was accepted on Tuesday Sept.1 by email. I originally applied for the Banner program starting in March because it was past the dead line for the Oct cohort but they called and asked if I wanted to interview for EMCC Oct. cohort. ---Kelli

Your composite sounds high, the composite score is your total score, so yes they do give points for that. If it helps, I only scored a 82 on predicting outcomes and was informed that I received points for that score, so fret not. My composite score was a mere 86, and that merited full points as well. If your score are better or match mine than you received all 8 points for the NET , and should not re-take it.
The ambiguious area of the application is the essays. I do not know how the essays are scored, though I can tell a personalized answer goes a long way in helping your application stand out. Last question is...do you hold a Bachelors? I know that Gateway Cohort is comprised largely of people holding a BS or BA.
