I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?
I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!
It is my understanding that the prescreen process basically consists of a combined score from your GPA + NET + essay questions. Based on the combined score from those three things you will either be selected for an interview or turned down. I have no idea how they go about scoring the essay questions. I would suggest re-writing those answers and applying again for the next cohort. Don't give up several people currently in my cohort applied multiple times before getting accepted.
Good luck and nursing school is all about positive thought, so don't be down just figure out how to make it better for next time.
There is one person here who tried 4x before getting into BNF program, so don't give up!!! If it would benefit you study more for the NET and take it again if necessary. If this is what you REALLY want try again. I know they have already started the process for the next cohort so re-write your essays and try again. BIG HUGS!
Hi BFhopefulCongratulations and thanks for sharing. I am getting ready to apply for the March Cohort and every little bit of info helps. Would you be willing to share with us what kind of questions you asked them at the end of the interview?
I researched the entire banner website, focusing mostly on employee related points/topics. Example, awards that the organization had won, number of employees with 20+years of service and I related my questions to that. I wanted to show them that I had taken the time to do my research. I really believe that is what helped me. Good luck in March.
Hello, I am in the October Cohort for EMCC... So excited!! A little nervous too. Im out of town now but would love to meet for lunch or something. They said that there would be an orientation in October, but never gave date, time or location...did they? did I miss it?
Its not until the end of OCT. I am going out of town the 26th-28th and then again the 3rd-8th of OCT. Please let me know when you get back and we can get together.
I am a pre-nursing student finishing up my pre and co reqs at Glendale Community College. I am very interested into applying for the Banner Fellows program. I probably won't be ready to apply for the MCC nursing program until January 2011 so I'd probably apply for the July 2011 cohort in April 2011 (I think that is correct?)
I was just wondering, if I apply to do the Fellows program through Glendale CC I will be still taking the nursing classes at the school right? and then just the clinicals at a banner hospital (most likely t-bird). I was just wondering how this works out, schedule wise. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it!

Hey all! I know that reading this whole thread, 63 pages, is insane. The interview questions have been talked about alot, use the search function. I am in block 2, and had to apply 4x's to get in. If you have a 3.0+ GPA and a 800+ NET, you should be ok. Just write good essay questions. Look at the Mission Statement on Banner's website, and base your essays and interview answers off of that. Once you get the interview, I think that they base their choice on your interview. Go in with confidence, and let youself shine. They ask you to explain a situation where you exhibited each of those qualities in the mission statement. They are also looking to know that you have a good support system in place to handle the stresses of an acclerated nursing program. They prefer that you don't work, or reduce hours while in school. Show them that you are smart, mature and capable. Blessings and it will happen when the time is right!
PS I am also a single mom, and I have my child at the college's childcare center. They are really good, and affordable. But at the start of the Fall semester, they gave me paperwork to have my childcare expense federally subsidized since I get a pell grant. Believe me, this is a huge blessing as I am not working while in school. So if you are a single mom, look into all the things out there that can help you pursue your dream, there is lots out there!
