I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?
I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!
I was also accepted to the program. I can't wait to meet my classmates here is to a fun and informative beginning to our future careers!
I was poking around the GWCC website the other night and found a CLOSED NUR151 Course with no instructor assigned with a start date of Oct 26-Feb. 22 so maybe that is it.
I signed my papers too and sent them back today also. I will look on the website. I live on the border of Surprise and El Mirage. So we are super close. Maybe we could even carpool. I met with a girl from our Cohort today and she was super nice so maybe we could all meet again soon. I wonder when we will get our vouchur for our books and stuff.I was at the bookstore today and they had Nurse Packs and the lady said they were required, I wonder what is in them and if they come with our books.

It would be great to meet some classmates before the program starts. I work with another girl at the hospital that also got into the program at EMCC. She might be interested in meeting up as well!
The Banner Program scored you collectively on GPA of your core courses, NET, Essays and interview. At the orientation this Summer they said there was no minimum scores. My GPA was weak due to my "rowdy" days in college in the 90s however my NET, Essays and interview made up for the short comings. You can always retake the NET and boost your score, you now know what to expect. Once you do apply have a good writer review your essays then once you go in for your interview DRESS FOR SUCCESS! Think about why you would be a good nurse and acts that you have done that demonstrate the strengths we look for in a nurse. Best of Luck!!!
Hello to all of you. Can anyone shed some light on course load for Block 1 at EMCC? I have been looking at the EMCC site and found only about 10 hours held for us. I was under the impression that this program would have a heavy load work and be full time. Be from what I can find 10 hours on 2 day per week, doesn't seem like much. Have any of you found anything different?

I believe you will have at least 2 days of class lectures and then another 2 days of labs and clinicals. I am at the Gateway program and they did not have much time blocked out either but traditionally it is 4 days a week. don't worry you will be so busy they wouldn't lie about that.
I spoke to someone in the GWCC nursing program who helps create the schedules, and she said typically Mon-Tues are classes from 8 AM to 3:30 PM, and clinicals are on Wed-Thurs. I can expect to finish up by 4PM. Fridays are off. She did not know the class schedule for this semester yet. I was just asking to see what kind of after care I need to arrange for my kids. She said that probably after Labor Day they would have the schedule down.
Also she had not yet received any names for cohorts. She said they send out student welcome packets before the orientation, which is Oct 12.
I believe that maybe I am an exception here. Basically I applied for the October cohort, and I did not receive an e-mail on August 7th telling me whether I got in or not. I had turned my application in pretty early and my grades had not posted at the time. I called the Tuesday after the 7th and got to speak to the director who told me that she hung onto my application because at the time my grades were not posted and it said I wanted July. I told her that I was wanting October. Told me that my application would be put through pre-screen. I waited and then called a week later and she then told me that I would be interviewed! I do not know when my interview is, but I am excited that I even get the opportunity. Was losing hope there for a while. Wish me luck everyone.
