Average Time Spent Studying...

For the final time I sat the exam I used Saunders Comprehensive RN book and during the week allocated 2 hours a night doing questions and understanding the rationale. At weekends when I was off work I would double it

I took 6 weeks 2-3 hrs a day.

Your answers will vary widely. It is pretty much an individual thing. I studied 2-3 hours per day most of the time. I took a day to myself once every 10-12 days or so. I think I studied for NCLEX-RN about 3 months?

8-10 hours per day...

I just do one hour &a half a day, maybe I need 2 increase!

I am currently studying 2-3 hrs on the days I work and 4-6 hrs on my days off. I have been trying to mix up my studying by doing questions and then reading material that corresponds to the content areas that I score low in.

I used the Kaplan course (good for strategy) but find that the questions are not as varied and helpful as the saunders (better content material). I am currently using the Saunders 4th ed. and the accompanying green saunders which has extra questions.

im really obssesed in passing the exam.. i took it last monday(first time) and im really nervous because i think their giving me easy questions like apical pulse ehehhe ^^

stopped at 130+ but i know the last 20 questions i got were kinda easy..

btw im still reviewing nclex while i still wait for the result but only 5 hours per day.. just to be sure,

Well I certainly do hope you passed. Good luck and best wishes. I was stressed too after my exam. Saw passed on the quick results and I believe I paid several times to check the results just to make sure. On top of that I called a few times too = more $$$$. So I can totally relate. Be patient and stay as positive as you can while you wait for the results. Hang in there. I would advise though to take a break from studying regardless just to freshen your mind. You'll end up being able to retain more info and be able to think better. Either way good luck.:heartbeat

I studied 3-5hrs a day for 3 months straight...by the time I was ready to take my exam I had completed the whole 4,200 questions with reading the rationales using the Saunders 4th edition. I also studied the tips given for 15 mins a day (Random Fact throwing sticky) and used a prioritization, delegation and assignment book. O, I also took jotted down S/E and the meds that I saw on the T.V. I actually had a couple on my exam....so I'm glad that I did that. Also, I made flash cards of all the labs and the ranges for meds and infection control...and involved my kids by having them test me. they enjoyed it and happy to help...plus it didn't make me feel as guilty spending all my time with the books.
