Hi. My first post here. I'm going to be taking the NCLEX in a month or so and I have been reviewing a few weeks or months, because for 325 dollars, I want to one shot this exam.
As for what I am using to review, I am using only free resources or resources from the library and friends.
What I want to get a feel for here, using AllNurses community, is to see how people were scoring up until they took the NCLEX RN itself. For example, on Saunders computer program you were scoring 50-60s, up until the actual exam, and you still passed the NCLEX come test day.
Please provide information, because every few weeks I get nervous and look at how other people did up until their exam, and so far, there are no modern threads that seem to organize the information well. (Most are before 2012 that I've seen)
Here are my scores so far.
Kaplan
Assessment: 73%
QT1: 62%
QT2-QT7 I plan to do one every few days, and will update.
Saunders Computer program
65%-75%
On the Saunders compute program, I have done maybe 2000+, but definitely more than 1500 questions, and the 65-75 is my average scoring range.
The newest program I found was from Lippincotts, which is done by PrepU, The Point. The program offers a 2 week free trial, instead of paying 90+ dollars for, which I am taking full advantage of since I got it two days ago. I have done 275 questions on it so far in exam mode.
What makes PrepU unique, is that they have a 0 to 8 scale of mastery (8 = good).
The problem is, they use a CAT (Computer Adaptive Test) on their program, which is pretty good, but kind of glitchy, because I can go 25 questions correct and it doesn't throw me into the high mastery levels yet.
With that, the PrepU/LWW/Lippincott says the "Approximate passing threshold" is a mastery level of 4.
Exam 1: 75 items, I achieved a mastery level of 6.6
Exam 2: 100 items, I achieved a mastery level of 8 (Yay!)
Exam 3: 100 items, I achieved a mastery level of 6.6 (Fudge)
I plan to do 100 more everyday until my trial expires, but as of right now, they say my mastery level is 7.07. Well above their 4 threshold, which states "Your performance is comparable to students who passed the NCLEX exam".
That's my experience and scores so far. I would like to consolidate or compare myself to other scores, to see if I have a good chance of one shotting the NCLEX, or if I need to step my game up even more.
So please, post your approximate NCLEX review scores with whatever software or system you used, so that other people can refer back to this thread, because for sure, I am not the only one curious on whether I can pass or not with my current scores.
Thank you for those who participate or who post input.

Im taking my exam again in few weeks. This time Ive been using Kaplan for questions, and will be reviewing the notes I took from Saunders and PDA for the last exam.
Q trainer 1- 62%
Q trainer 2- 60%
Q trainer 3- 56%
Q trainer 4- 75%
Q trainer 5- 68%
Im done with the Q bank and got 50s-60s in all of them in general. Im also watching the Kaplan question videos, hopefully it helps for the exam also. Im so nervous and anxious for the exam. I cant afford to fail this time, NEVER!!!
Thanks for the contribution.
Is this your 2nd take on the exam? If so, what did you use last time, or what were you scoring before you didn't pass?

Kaplan, I averaged 62% on the q bank and got between 58 and 70 on the qbank tests. I got a 55% the first time I did the diagnostic and 78 the second time. I would say if you stay in the 60s you are good.
My Saunders were between 70-75%
I passed with those scores
I don't have access to the QBank, but since I am in the 60s for one QTrainer, that seems like a good sign for me. Thanks Scaredsilly.
May I also ask how many questions did you do during the real NCLEX? 75?
I ended up with the entire 265 :-( but I passed!

I've been studying for 5 weeks now and am planning to take my NCLEX next week.
I have been using Kaplan (QT and Qbank), LaCharity PDA, and Saunders 6th edition.
Completed Qbank with scores in the 60s
QT1: 60%
QT2: 70%
QT3: 63%
QT4: have not taken yet
QT5: 66.7%
QT6: 65.5%
QT7: will be taking tomorrow or Wednesday
I have 2 chapters left of LaCharity PDA and overall averaged 65%ish (from all 500qs on the evolve resource)
I read all of the Saunder chapters (except the pharm ones) and took notes
I started studying 5 weeks ago by doing the 75q assessment from Saunders online (with the code in the book) and it gives you a 6 week study schedule. To me, it was very hard to do more than 2 chapters a day (especially in Adult Health). To complete the entire book it took me 4.5 weeks (I didn't take weekends off). I would read a chapter in Saunders (e.g. Adult Endocrine & CV system) then do the corresponding PDA chapters afterwards. I adhered to doing 100q's a day consisting of either Qbank and PDA to complete both. Saunder's questions were easier so I didn't count them in my 100 although I still did them after reading the chapters.
To be honest, I'm pretty burned out so I'm spending my last week reviewing notes, the 35pg study guide, refreshing on fundamentals, and going to complete QT7 and 4 (maybe lol) I felt weak in content as to why I devoted half of my studying to content and half to doing questions. Hope this helps and good luck to us!!!
Thanks for the info. Hope you pass next week. Let us know how it goes.
I found this thread of a guy who took it on September 9, 2014 named Nmckzs.
https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/have-i-done-947359.html
There he is asking if he has done enough and says he achieved a mastery level of 7.13, on PrepU/thePoint/Lippincott's program, before doing his 2nd take of the NCLEX.
The next day on September 10, 2014, he posts this.
https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/pretty-sure-i-947526.html
Saying that he passed, but with 263 questions, even with a mastery level of 7.13 up to the day before the exam.
My mastery level is 7.3, with 375 questions out of 4 exams so far.
With that, I'd say it's safe to assume that PrepU/thePoint/Lippincott's "mastery level of 4 comparable to students who passed the NCLEX exam." is possibly a bad figure to be in, if even a guy who is scoring 7.13 average had to do 263 questions, due to the "95% certainty rule of passing", meaning he stayed below that 95% certainty mark for a while, and broke it after 263.
Exam 4: 100 items, I achieved a mastery level of 8
Exam 5: 150 items, I achieved a mastery level of 8
Exam 6: 100 items, I achieved a mastery level of 8
Exam 7: 75 items, I achieved a mastery level of 8
Exam 8: 100 items, I achieved a mastery level of 8
Exam 9: 100 items, I achieved a mastery level of 8
I ended up with an average of like 7.8 or 7.6. But I was able to hit the level 8's consistently.
QT2: 75 items, 45 correct = 60%

Don't worry about your score. What's important is you understand the rationale on every question that you review whether you got the question right or wrong. I liked the NCSBN review, it's cheaper too and in my opinion resembles the actual NCLEX exam. It's straight forward, just like NCLEX. I took NCLEX-RN in September and I walked in there prepared to take 265 questions and stopped at 75 and passed.
QT1: 75 items, 47 correct = 62%
QT3: 100 items, 52 correct = 52% (Fudge, I got scared)
QT4: 150 items, 81 correct = 54% (Fudge, can't pull 60+)
QT5: 150 items, 88 correct = 59% (Fudge, even more scared)
QT6: Could not find online
QT7: 265 items, 160 correct = 60% (Yay, but still scary
Average = 58% (fudge, not 60%)
Took the NCLEX-RN a few days ago. I'll update if I passed with these scores.
