Austin Community College Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Any Fall 2011 ACC hopefuls out there? I start my nursing skills class in March and am very excited. I'm reapplying next week for the Fall. If I calculated my ranking correctly I should make it in.

If you made all C's in your 5 pre-reqs and it doesn't add up to 2.7 then you still couldn't apply. They stress doing well in your pre-reqs because it raises your chances of getting in. ACC is just saying they won't accept any grade below C in a pre-req and co-req.

If someone had all A's in 4 pre-reqs and a D in the last one then ACC would not accept an application even if the GPA was 2.7 because of the D.

RADIATIONRN2B is right....an applicant must have a "minimum" of the 5 -pre-reqs with a C or better AND a 2.7 GPA.

Just curious if anyone has heard when in june acceptance email will go out? Also, has anyone seen other friends that are graduate nurses having trouble getting a job after they graduate? I keep reading some of these posts of different people saying expect to wait a while to get a job. I still am going to pursue this nursing degree but I am a little concerned about job outlook in austin. :)

It can go either way. I've heard graduates getting a job right away and I've heard some have a hard time. Make connections early, starting first semester. Do well in clinical, make friends, make contacts, and you stand a better chance.

I was reading the recent announcement and it stated that the first round of fall petitions for nursing skills will be emailed in July. I'm assuming this is for the current application cycle since those individuals starting the ADN program in the fall are supposed to take nursing skills before starting the program. Is this correct?

Hey guys, Does anyone know about the process for getting into a campus? I thought it was ranking score-based (highest rank chooses first), but the "time-sensitive" thing has me wondering if it's just first-come, first-served. Does anyone know for sure?

It is first-come first-serve, that is why if you are interested in a specific campus you have to reply fast.

Yes, the acceptance email will tell you the steps...be sure to read it carefully. I was so excited when I was accepted all I replied with was "HYBRID" and didn't know they wanted my top 3 choices! lol!

So email them your top three choices. I really don't know anyone who didn't get their first choice of campus when the first emails go out.
