Austin Community College Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Any Fall 2011 ACC hopefuls out there? I start my nursing skills class in March and am very excited. I'm reapplying next week for the Fall. If I calculated my ranking correctly I should make it in.

they cut the class size to 108... I would've made it with last semester's numbers. I was 142 :(

Sorry to the folks who didn't make it. Remember that nursing schools are as competitive as it gets, and chances are you'll make it second round or next semester.

For males, what brand of shoes do people recommend for nursing school. We are having a sale tomorrow & tuesday at Dell Children's and I would like to buy a pair. Also, besides a stethoscope and a pen light what other equipment should I buy before school starts. Thank you for any help. Did anyone choose CEC as their first choice? Maybe we could start a study group before classes begin.

I bought the medical plain white Sketchers. They have a tiny piece of gray around the name logo on the side and those were fine for me. I ordered mine online but they had some white tennis shoes for guys also at the uniform shop where I ordered my scrubs.

They told us we needed bandage scissors also but I never used them. Might want to get them just in case. Make sure you have a watch with a second hand too. They frown upon digital watches.

What is the official name of the scrub color for ACC nursing students? Anyone know the corresponding Dickie's color? I'm shopping online sales.

Hey guys! im new to this site but i just got accepted for fall 2011, im hoping to get into RR, anyone else going there? i was just wondering if anyone got their "next steps" email yet? im so anxious to get all this stuff done lol! :nurse:

Thanks Radiation! I figured it was teal, but wanted to be sure it wasn't some other blue. It looks like Dickies has teal as one of their colors, so I'm guessing that's safe. Seton Clinical Staff wear the same color scrubs as ACC Students (much to their chagrin) and I'm pretty sure I've seen them in Dickies teal.

ACCNS - I'm waiting on the next steps, too! I really need to start reviewing my skills for that check off...
