Austin Community College (ACC)

Published

Good morning allnurses.com viewers,

I just submitted my application to ACC for Spring 2009 and I am VERYYYY nervous. This program is so intimidating knowing it's past concerning waitlists and (though very doubtful) I wish to be accepted on the first attempt.

I am just wondering if anyone here in Austin has gone to the information sessions, talked to the chairman (woman), or has any information on what the waitlist is supposed to look like for Spring 2009.

Also, what ranking points is usually the cut-off for the waitlist? I have searched forums and some people have 45-50 ranking points (which is amazing and I congratulate you guys), but how many ranking points is it usually before they deny your admittance to the program?

Thank you for reading my post and I hope to hear from someone soon.

Sincerely,

FilipinOOO

p.s. this is my first post so go easy on me:saint:

Yah enjoy the easy classes because the ACC ADN Program is NOT EASY at all. I started with a 4.0 and graduated in may with a 3.3 i only made 1 A during the whole 2 years. Now then, i didn't kill myself to know every single book fact... lol... as if that would have helped anyway...

Here's how it goes 75 to 82 is a C. 83 to 92 is a B. 93 and up is an A.

Usually you have 4 unit tests and 1 cumulative final for every semester.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PICK ***** **** or ********* ******* as your Clinical Instructor for your first semester.

I took ******** first semester and I loved her. I think she may not like men, as bad as that sounds. You have to prove to her that you are competent, then she will usually warm up to you. I did notice that she had a couple of student that she would consistently pick on. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. ***** is awful.

I do agree with everything else. A's are extremely hard to get. I've only gotten 2 so far, with 1 semester left to go. Nothing is easy once you get into the program.

Has anyone applied for the Spring 2010 semester?? I just submitted my app about a week and a half ago and I'm not looking forward to the long wait. My ranking is a 52....anyone know if thats good enough??

I also applied. From what I understand, your score is good. 60 is the highest, but I'm sure there are only a handful of people with that amount of points. Hopefully the semester will go by fast!

Is your ranking 52 or do you have 52 points?

I had 52 points when I applied, and I was ranked 36th. I think the cut-off was 47th (rank, not points).

52 points.

I hope its enough!! I'm soooo ready!

When I got into school 77 was the highest. I have since finished the program. There isn't a wait list, so you shouldn't even be worrying about rankings.

They rank you for the first semester too. But not after that.

Good luck, kann! I'm not sure how many folks will be reapplying from last semester, but you can ask the nursing office how many people they turned down. That will give you an idea of how many people might reapply and get extra points for doing so.

It's an agonizing wait!

Actaully flood, there is a waitlist:( I applied for the Fall 2009 semester and my ranking wasnt high enough...over 100 people didnt get in...thats why Im worried about my 52. And the highest you can get is a 60.

Thank you so much! Im trying not to think about it so the time will pass!

Help

Hello

Can someone give me the details step by step how to become an ADN in austin community college, It's been 7 years since I left school from abroad, English is my second language, and I just have my green card and would like to be a nurse. How many years it's gonna take , please I would like to know, what is the first step to take

Go to any ACC campus & start with an advisor.

The wait to see an advisor is not too bad right now.
