Austin Community College (ACC)

U.S.A. Texas

Good morning allnurses.com viewers,

I just submitted my application to ACC for Spring 2009 and I am VERYYYY nervous. This program is so intimidating knowing it's past concerning waitlists and (though very doubtful) I wish to be accepted on the first attempt.

I am just wondering if anyone here in Austin has gone to the information sessions, talked to the chairman (woman), or has any information on what the waitlist is supposed to look like for Spring 2009.

Also, what ranking points is usually the cut-off for the waitlist? I have searched forums and some people have 45-50 ranking points (which is amazing and I congratulate you guys), but how many ranking points is it usually before they deny your admittance to the program?

Thank you for reading my post and I hope to hear from someone soon.

Sincerely,

FilipinOOO

p.s. this is my first post so go easy on me:saint:

Thank you Editor and Ming

infirmieres -- they prefer you to do an information session before speaking to the advisor. If you can't make it to one of the ones they have scheduled, you can do it online (which is what I did):

Y'all are making me really nervous. I'm thinking my ranking will be either a 49.7 or a 52.7 when I apply for Fall 2010 (it depends on the HESI). I've gotten straight As since I started ACC but I have an old B and an old C from the prereqs I took almost 10 years ago at UT.

I applied for spring 2010 and was sent a rank score (53.29) w/a petition for 1105. It sounds like there might be quite a few 52+ if there are a lot of reapplicants in the 47 range from last semester and a competitive group applying. So I don't know what to expect. ACC is my first choice for a variety of reasons (cost being a big one!) but I am keeping options open and will be applying to other programs, though I can't relocate which limits my options considerably.

It's hard to wait, if late Oct. is when they send letters that seems like forever away!

hey everyone! hope everyone has enjoyed their summer.. with the heat and two summer classes i can't really say i 'enjoyed' mine but it wasn't too bad :) i am anxious for this next week to go by quickly though, i have my last three med term classes and my last a&p class. if i do as well as i think i will on my last two tests, it looks like i will end up with an a and a b for this summer semester. my goal was both a's but as long as i get that b i will be happy.

as for the teachers i absolutely loved both of my teachers. ****** is a very sweet and funny woman. dr. *** is also very nice and hilarious. he was an actual medical doctor and always had interesting things to tell during class. he said last class that he just got added on to an anatomy class at cypress creek so if anyone needs anatomy and lives close i highly reccomend him. too bad cedar park is wayy too far for me to drive :(

i have signed up for fall semester classes now:

* ****** for pharm at eastview and ******** for micro at riverside. i am very nervous about mirco but the professor got good reviews on ratemyprofessor.com so hopefully it won't be too bad.

good luck to everyone applying to the programs!! :)

i had some people in my pharm class who had ********** for micro and they seemed to like it. micro can be tough no matter who's teaching, but it definitely helps to have a prof who puts it all in perspective and doesn't skip the details. my bs is in micro/chemistry so if you need help or have a question feel free to send me a message. :nuke: good luck and have fun, you'll really enjoy the labs!!

Hey, everyone!

Has anyone had clinical with ***** *******? I'd like to know your thoughts. You can PM me with your opinions.

Thanks in advance!

Hello all!

I cant tell you how glad I am that the summer semester is about over! I took one final today and I am done with my online speech class. I go tomorrow to take my last Psych exam, then I have my Spanish final on Tuesday. At least we get a little over a week off before Fall begins. I got my physiology textbook in the mail on Friday and I was looking through it, nice to see stuff that I can use towards nursing again! Gotta love the science classes! I can apply in January for Fall 2010. Gosh it seems so far away!

Hello you all,

I just applied to ACC's tradition track ADN program for spring of 2010. Can someone tell me how likely I am to get in.

I have all co-reqs and pre-reqs. completed. I have a nursing GPA of a 3.03 and passes my HESI Math 84%, Reading Comp 87% and Anatomy 94%. I calculated my points and it is about a 42. Please help.

Thanks :)

Hi,

I am not too sure but I believe the lowest ranking they accepted last semester was 48 or 49. You can call the ADN office and ask for stats about last semester's cut off rank. All the reapplication students get an added 5 or 6 points when they apply again so that bumps up the competition also.

RADIATIONRN2B, you might know this -- if I take a class in Spring 2010, will that be used to calculate my final ranking GPA for Fall 2010 admission? If I'm not mistaken, people who applied for Spring 2010 had their summer courses count for their GPA, so I wonder if it works the same way for Fall admissions.

It's only 130ish days until we can apply! Not that I'm counting. :chuckle When are you taking the HESI? I registered for the last one in December.

Hi Purkinje,

You know, my gut tells me that yes a Spring 2010 class would count towards the gpa for the Fall admission, but then I decided that I really don't know! ha! It might be different for the summer session because it is so short. Isn't our deadline to submit applications December 15 - March 1, 2010?? That would mean that they would have to hold your application and wait another 2 months to get your spring grades. Gosh, I really don't know. I could've sworn they let the fall 2009 class know they were accepted like at the beginning of May.

And yes, I registered for the HESI on their December 18th session. I am gonna go pay for it when I am on campus when my class starts Tuesday.
