Today has been a very devastating day. Early this morning on the way to clinical some of my fellow nursing classmates were killed in a car crash. There was an 7-8 car pile up, but only the nursing students were killed. There were 7 students all together, 5 killed, 2 critically injured. This deeply saddens me because this was their first semester in the program. It was also their last clinical of the semester. I do not know the 5 students personally but it hits so close to home. My nursing school is very small and we are all like family.
I am posting this to ask for condolences and prayers for the families of these students. Please do not hesitate to post. We would all appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
As a human, a nurse and a nursing instructor I am so sadden by this incident. I could not imagine as a nursing instructor arriving to clinical and receiving this tragic news about any of my students. No matter what the differences are I professionally hold each student close to guide and nuture. May the peace of God be with the families, friends, classmates and instructors of these students.
I am so glad you posted this. I am heartbroken over this sad and tragic situation. As a fellow nursing student, also a junior and having just finished carpooling to my last clinical over one hour from my school, this has hit home and hit hard. My prayers go out to you and all your fellow classmates and also to the families and friends of these young ladies.
I have been following this tragedy on the news and have shed many tears for all of you. I do think your school is a "class act" in their handling of this situation. From what I understand, the school has added a single tear to your school's eagle logo as a memorial in honor of these students, how fitting! And today, every flag in our state government is at half mast in their honor.
One thing I have been lacking in the news coverage is the condition of the other two students injured in the accident. You said they are critical. I know there are privacy laws but would appreciate hearing how they are if you know.
God Bless all of you, you will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

One of the two surviving students was reported to have been released the next morning. No word on the second.
