Today has been a very devastating day. Early this morning on the way to clinical some of my fellow nursing classmates were killed in a car crash. There was an 7-8 car pile up, but only the nursing students were killed. There were 7 students all together, 5 killed, 2 critically injured. This deeply saddens me because this was their first semester in the program. It was also their last clinical of the semester. I do not know the 5 students personally but it hits so close to home. My nursing school is very small and we are all like family.
I am posting this to ask for condolences and prayers for the families of these students. Please do not hesitate to post. We would all appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
I would like to thank everyone for their well wishes. Everyone has been so supportive during a tragedy like this. Tonight the university will be holding a candle-light vigil in memory of the students. Everyone from the nursing department, as well as hundreds of others from the school will be there to show our support.
And just to update: one of the injured students has been treated and released from the hospital this morning.
A friend on FB that lives in Georgia posted this story on her timeline yesterday. It is so heartbreaking that such a tragedy occurred and especially to students with a heart for nursing. My prayers go out to the families, friends, students and those close to these girls during this terrible time. Love from a prospective nursing student in Virginia!
