Army Reserve OML FY2017

Hello!

I am starting this thread separate from another thread that has been posted on numerous times. I recently heard from my nurse corps recruiter that they would soon be pulling selected people off the OML and commissioning them within the next couple months or so. We are currently half way through the fiscal year and this is apparently when the army starts to make decisions on their current needs to complete the army nurse corps new officer spots for that year. Just a reminder, the OML list is made of officer candidates that were selected to commission but were not offered a spot at that time. As I recall, there were a decent amount of us in this position after the November and December boards! I personally am on the OML list after the December boards for a 66H and am from the Nashville, TN area :)

If you leave a comment below, you will get updates when others post on here! Feel free to share anything you hear from your recruiters, peers, etc.

Good luck to all!

Geeze I hope that gets resolved quickly!

Placed a phone call to the 1st Medical Recruiting Brigade. They weren't able to look me up because my packet wasn't submitted through them. My application was submitted by a retired Officer and thus would be in the system. If a packet was submitted in the context that mine was then it can go right to the board (fy18, 31Oct - 2Nov previously memntioned in this thread) prior to the requisite waiver being approved/denied. This is what I was explained yesterday. This sound accurate to anybody? Appreciate the feedback in advance. Thank you.

You submitted it through a retired officer? You need to submit it through a healthcare recruiting office. That doesn't seem legit at all. Also, this is the army, not a regular HR office so you can't just call and get updates on your packet. Marine7 and I went half a year without hearing anything at one point.

Also it depends on what the waiver is for. Age, height/weight, etc.

Agree, I have never heard of an application being submitted outside of recruiting. Weird...

When I say it was submitted through a retired officer brokered the submission of the packet through USAREC. I have been waiting 6 months. Last he had heard it had ascended by way of the 2nd Recruting Brigade, to the USAREC Command Surgeon. But seeing as though this route is unfamiliar to the group it is a moot point. I wish everyone well. Thanks

From personal experience, you don't get updates on your packet the way you are expecting to. If it's submitted and done correctly, it will go to the board. Medical recruiters are very experienced with the process and can offer insight. However, since you didn't use one we can't really be of any help. The army currently has a surplus of nurses and applicants so they can pick and choose who and what they want with little to no explanation.

Well that actually answers my question. Bottom line I have to wait to know. I think I'm waiting for the board in Oct/Nov FY18. Hopefully someone will contact me after that and let me know.

The waiting is the hardest part. I just read over the past few posts and it seems like a confusing mess. As for the upcoming board, this is something your recruiter can see in the computer and let you know if it has a 'board ready' status. I would give him a call because there is no reason stressing over the board unless you are actually being boarded. Good luck!!!

On another note, congratulations to ktRNBSN2016 for her commission! Congrats LT!!

How was the process after being commissioned? How much was for uniforms? How long after being commissioned did you get orders for when you would start drilling?

Congratulations!!!!

Coming off the OML!
