Hello, All! My packet for 66P AD packet is almost complete and will be submitted for the October Board, fingers crossed. Anyone else waiting for this board? How has your whole process been? Anyone who has previously undergone this experience is more than welcome to give input! Thanks!

How is everyone else? I'm glad we can post on here again! Missed yall ?

Hey Mima!

I'm still waiting on orders too! Boarded same day as you. Took forever to get the memo to take my oath. Commissioned Dec 21.

The only thing I've got scheduled is the OPAT ?Have you already done that?

Hey there! I was selected from November board. Waited on moral waiver (which was approved) and now waiting on vision waiver for orders to commission. I returned to MEPS yesterday for an ophthalmology consult which was extremely fun... I am very nearsighted but bilaterally correctable to 20/20 and my eyes are otherwise healthy. MEPS physician, who sends up the waivers, and recruiter think I will be fine.

I'm doing well but just wanting to know whether I can commission or not. Anxiety and patience game.

Glad you were able to commission! Congratulations! What will be your entry rank?

Anyone do the OPAT yet? I have it on Monday and when I asked my recruiter what to wear he said "sweats". Okay, I don't run in sweatpants ? they are way too baggy. I have the Army t-shirt that he gave me but wonder if I should wear shorts or if running tights would be acceptable?

Funding for seats at BOLC was a big factor. There may also be a gap between the RFO and the actual orders, too. My report date was about 3 weeks from the day I got my orders, but I had my RFO some weeks before that.

I have no idea about med/surg ratios, I commissioned as an ED/Trauma RN and that is all I did in the Army. Sorry!

Does the army need 66E? I want to join and have 1 experience. Is CNOR preferred?

You'll need to contact a recruiter. I am no longer active duty and and I don't know what they are looking for. However, with specialities, they usually like to see at least two years of experience in the specialty (because one civilian year is only equivalent to 6 months of credit for the Army) and yes, board certification is typically desirable.

Hi all,

I am a 66P USAR who boarded in Oct FY17 and was commissioned in June 2018. Was supposed to be assigned to APMC but no orders yet. Working with my recruiter regularly on a request of information regarding my orders but nothing as of yet. Has anyone ever heard of it taking over 15 months or having to file a DA Form 1559 for the Army Inspector General?

I boarded last December 2017, went to DCC and BOLC in the summer and am now stationed at Tripler Army Medical Center. I am a 66S (ICU nurse). If you have any questions, feel free to PM me, or I can respond here. There aren't too many direct commissions so I found that getting the right info was a bit tricky at times.

Cheers!

My packet has been submitted for 66P and will go before the April 9 board. I’m nervous/excited. Would you mind telling me some of your background? I have 2 years NP in urgent and primary care 4 years RN in the ED. I have my DNP and some leadership awards from my BSN program. I only had the minimum three letters of recommendation since we were in a hurry to make the board. I hope that doesn’t hold me back.

Hey! So, I worked in Family for about a year and a half. I've been working in Cardiology for almost two years now. I had 5 letters of recommendations with 3 being from military personnel. I am prior service so I have some contacts. My GPA was high too and I believe they look at that as a factor. I don't have any leadership awards and I think that will make your packet stand out. When I was selected, I was told there were still 8 remaining Active Duty slots. Are you applying for AD or Reserves? I've heard a lot of 66P Reserve applicants being put on OML (order of merit list).

AD I’m so excited as I’ve been wanting to serve for years. My GPA was 3.6 in my doctoral program. No prior service unfortunately and I believe there were 8/9 spots left. They push a rush on packet to make April board. How long did it take them to notify you?

Side note I was originally applying to the navy but they haven’t had an outside NP spot available in 2+ years which my recruiter failed to tell me and the navy is actually reducing their NP spots while the army is increasing. My recruiters have been fantastic and I’m pleased with the process so far. I have mostly navy and some army in the family

I'm very excited for you! Your GPA is strong so I definitely think you have a good chance! It took about 2.5-3 weeks but my board was a week before Thanksgiving so response was slightly delayed. Waiting to commission has been the longest wait for me but I just swore in so now just waiting on orders for training. Getting us used to the "hurry up and wait"!

I was thinking about applying to the Navy a few years ago and now I'm glad I didn't. My previous stint was with the Army Reserves. I love the Army and I believe if you are looking for vertical career growth, the Army is the best branch. Keep me posted on your process!

That’s great to hear. The role I’m in now I feel like a dog chasing it’s tail. I hope they don’t take too long to get back to me as I am anxious to get started but I know it’s a lot of hurry up and wait. I’ll let you know how it goes.
