Hello, All! My packet for 66P AD packet is almost complete and will be submitted for the October Board, fingers crossed. Anyone else waiting for this board? How has your whole process been? Anyone who has previously undergone this experience is more than welcome to give input! Thanks!

Hi Mima!

Thank you very much!! My recruiter told me about the monthly stipend for NP students or another option is a bonus once I graduate and re-apply as an NP for the Army. He told me the time is 1 year per 6months in school. So my 2 year program requires me to serve minimum 4 years. This is something that I have always wanted to do and so right now I'm not really being picky or concerned about the number to years for commitment. I will definitely reach out with any questions (which I will undoubtedly have! haha). Thank you so much for the support!

Yes, I am pretty positive it is Fort Sam for BOLC. You will go there too, right?

Hey Guys!

Thanks for the information. My packet didn't make the October board because of some stuff missing, but it went to the board this past Thursday. Seems like you guys received a quick response from the Board. Apparently there were still 9/10 slots for my AOC open after the October board. Have you all heard anything regarding orders? I am so nervous to hear back. Congratulations on your selection though, ladies!

Congrats on your selection!

Thank you!

I haven't heard anything about orders yet. This whole process has taught me a lot about patience haha!! I've heard sometimes it can take a while. My recruiter didn't give me a definite time frame. I'm guessing it will be a couple weeks, at the very least.

I was selected for active duty in November 2010, notified in early December 2010, and got orders in March 2011. Be prepared to wait! :)

...still waiting on medical waiver.

Wow , that seems an excessively long wait. I was told it is 30-60 days for RFO / Orders. Do you know what drew out your timeline? was it due to school seat avail, etc? Were you allowed to early report?

Also ..if I may ask? What is the patient / Nurse ratio typically like on the Med Surg Floors at the big places like SAMMC, etc (I understand this is a dynamic number)

Funding for seats at BOLC was a big factor. There may also be a gap between the RFO and the actual orders, too. My report date was about 3 weeks from the day I got my orders, but I had my RFO some weeks before that.

I have no idea about med/surg ratios, I commissioned as an ED/Trauma RN and that is all I did in the Army. Sorry!

From watching the website & my personal experience I think the amount of time is also determined by whether you are going active or reserves. It seemed that everyone who went active received orders in a fairly timely manner. Myself & others who were selected for reserves during the October 2017 board just received our orders over the past month. The process has definitely been an exercise in patience.

Do you have any idea why it took that long? A year seems like the greatest amount than what I've read on here. Was it something to do with the unit you were assigned to maybe?

Hello all. Hope all is going well. My AOC is 66T. I just graduated through AMEDD BOLC and started in the ER here at BAMC. The process for boards to commissioning and everything else that comes with this is gonna vary on a person to person basis. Itll depend on your recruiter and your assignment officer. Most everyone who is excepted will go through DCC in fort sill before you attend AMEDD BOLC here at ft. Sam. If you aren't prior service please reach out and talk to current and or prior amedd officers as there is alot of info they dont tell you b4 one joins. There were a ton of people who in my opinion dropped the ball when it came to my process which deeply affected my family and I. Anywho if anyone has any questions at all I am here for you and will help anyway I can. God Bless

If I was the only one who experienced this long of timeline I would probably think it was something with my recruiter or my packet but because there were others in different regions of the country I can't say for sure why. The government did shut down for a brief time in January that may have affected it and I've also had to re-sign my contract 3 times due to errors.

Patience is your friend and everything will work out. It just may take longer than what any of us would expect or like.
