Mar 7, 2009 HOOAH! i've decided i am an internet junkie but in this case it paid off. i left approx. 1530 yesterday afternoon for a boyscout ski trip w/ 3 of my boys. i brought my laptop with me. and i will even admit i got a little bit of the chills when i powered her up and found a unsecured wireless network available . so i went on my AKO account to do my daily evening check and lo and behold there under documents were my orders. hallelujah and all that jazz!

lahlee 89 Posts Specializes in Critical Care. Mar 7, 2009 Woot woot!! Thats awesome! It is definately a painfully long time to wait, especially when you see others commission at the same time as you get their orders months before you do. I too was an HRC/AKO addict, checking multiple times a day, when I got my orders I fell off the chair!!Good luck with your drills as I have my first one coming up the first weekend in April. Holy crap, I guess its time for surreality to depart and reality to set in!!Hooah!

Mar 9, 2009 ok, so,,, technically you don't know where you are going until you get orders, right??? so once you get orders how long before you have to report to your base??? In other words if you have a house to sell, when do you have to put your house on the market?
just_cause, BSN, RN 1,471 Posts Mar 9, 2009 It depends on your market :) It also depends on the date that you placed when you are available......
NursePamela 330 Posts Has 20+ years experience. Mar 10, 2009 SO if you put available ASAP and you get orders on 10 March does that mean you could in theory report to your new duty station 10 April? In theory of course I know so many variables could make your head spin. I am guessing if you put in for it than the military is thinking that you are thinking you are ready. Does that make sense? Is there an average length of time from when someone receives orders until they report to their first duty station?
